AWB Agenda

This is from Feinstein's Senate.gov website, emphasis added.
Summary of 2013 legislation
Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:
·         Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
·         120 specifically-named firearms
·         Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
·         Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds
·         Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
·         Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
·         Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
·         Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans
·         Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
·         Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
·         Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
·         Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
·         Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons
·         Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
·         Background check of owner and any transferee;
·         Type and serial number of the firearm;
·         Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
·         Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
·         Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration
A pdf of the bill summary is available here.
Registration
If the section in bold above doesn't make sense, here's what it means to you in practical terms. If you own a weapon that is covered under the ban (like an AR-15), you will berequired to register this weapon with the ATF under the National Firearms Act (NFA). A weapon that you already legally own.
·         You must pay the NFA tax, which is currently $200.
·         You must be "certified" by local law enforcement, which currently means the chief law enforcement officer where you live.
·         You must be photographed and fingerprinted and then entered into whatever database they will use for this registration.
·         Then, and only then, will your currently legal weapon be legal under the new regime.
Agenda Confirmed
The debate on what a renewed Assault Weapons Ban would or would not do should be just about over. Their agenda is clear - to eventually disarm America. If you think not, then perhaps you need to brush up on history, and you really don't even have to go back very far. Take a look at what happened in England and Australia. First they registered their guns, telling the government exactly who has what and how many, and then the government took away their guns type by type. Tell me, what kinds of guns can you currently own in England and Australia?
NFA registration is an expected move from Feinstein given their goal to disarm America. From their perspective, NFA registration makes sense and would be extremely effective both in the short and long term. What it would accomplish is twofold:
1.       Make it extremely hard to be "legal" under the new regime. This will mean that most folks will just give up and participate in the gun buy back program.
2.       The remaining folks will all be on a list, telling them exactly who to keep an eye on, and where to go to get the guns when the time comes.

The one state that hasn't had a mass shooting

Adds 200 more armed teachers

Racism? No.

Classism maybe

We have become a very permissive society, there is seldom structure and or discipline, and for the most part a large segment of the population are whiny children, that do what they want to do, when they want to do it, and when they do something wrong, it is an object's fault, or they lay the blame on someone else. People do not want to be responsible for their own actions, due to not being taught structure and discipline, and responsibility.

The old saying spare the rod, spoil the child. Now my father never used the rod, but it was simple the promise of the rod, kept me in line as a youth. I'm not advocating beating children, but they need discipline and guidance in growing up, to know the limits, and to learn respect and common courtesy.

So these are bad?

But this is Just a game

and this is just a movie

Now before you go off, I have nothing against video games, and action or horror movies, but some of them are not suitable for young children. You say they have no influence, on young minds? Yeah right, that is why growing up I wanted to be like John Wayne, & Randolph Scott (if you do not know who John Wayne or Randolph Scott was do some research) Is it OK for young children to watch XXX movies?, Why "No" you say? hmm but it is OK to be the first person shooter in a game, and watch heads explode to get points, and it is ok for them to watch people being butchered on the big screen, but God forbid they play with a toy gun.

AR does not stand for Assault Rifle

If we save one life

Also attending the meeting were Attorney General Eric Holder, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Obama’s drug czar, Gil Kerlikowske. Senior Obama advisers Bruce Reed, Valerie Jarrett, Cecilia Munoz and Kathy Ruemmler were also in attendance.

I'd say if it were a boat it would capsize

Of course this is the same group that created free fire zones, and deny victims the chance at self defense.

Best done with modern weapons

"By calling attention to 'a well regulated militia', the 'security' of the nation, and the right of each citizen 'to keep and bear arms', our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important."

Next thing to be banned

After all they are designed to hurt people

So if the next killer uses Molotov Cocktail

Will we ban "Assault Bottles, and Assault Gas"?

In 1990 When this happened I wrote Senator John Glenn, and ask if we should pass some type of ban on gas containers, and require those with gas cans to register them, and further require those purchasing gas in cans to submit to a background check. His reply was there was no amount legislation, that would stop the acts of as madman But being a liberal legislator thought he could control the acts of madmen by controlling and banning certain types of weapons. When the end result is the same, what matter the means?
When the killer enter the theater in Aurora  one of 5 showing Batman, but the only one with a "No Guns" sign, instead of hurling smoke canisters, had throw Molotov cocktails the results might have been much worse.  We would have shaken our heads and perhaps questioned our mental health laws, but no one would be discussing banning certain fuels or containers.

Other than the Gifford's shooting, most of the mass killers go to "No Guns" helpless victim zones because they don't want to fight, they want to kill. They want everyone else to feel their pain, and they do it by killing. I'm not going to say arm all the teachers, but I am saying give those that are willing to have an effective means to stop the killers, and yes in most cases that would be a firearm.

But instead of grasping the simple solution, the legislators want to pass laws that will effect millions of Americans, that would never hurt a child, or another person for that matter, in the vain hope of stopping a mad man.

The problem is not the guns, or types of guns, it is we have crazy people in the world, in China they have mass knife attacks, on the same day as Sandy Hook, 23 stabbed and cut. Others have left multiple dead and wounded. Because no one had an effective means to stop them.

Children do not need to be told there are monsters in the world, they know there are monsters, children need to know you will protect them from the monsters.

Message from England

OK back in business

Cheaper Than Dirt! will Resume Online Firearm Sales Pending Policy Changes

Cheaper Than Dirt! recently announced that it was temporarily suspending online sales of firearms pending a review of its order processing and procedures. Well-known for its ability to process and ship orders within 24 hours, online sales have skyrocketed to a point where it may take up to 72 hours for firearms and other items to ship.

"In light of recent events, we believe it is prudent to review our policies and procedures to ensure we can continue to provide the products and firearms our customers demand," said Chief Operations Officer Roberta Wilson. "We will resume online sales once we update our process and continue as we have always done by shipping firearms only to FFL dealers."

Ms. Wilson closed with, "As a long-time supporter of the Second Amendment, we will continue to serve the needs of the firearms community while ensuring our unsurpassed level of quality and customer service."

Some truth

But registration will not fly

Once started it will end up encompassing all guns, and historically registration leads to confiscation. The guns used at Sandy Hook were registered, and it prevented nothing.

Stop Teaching Our Kids To Kill

Dave Grossman, Lt. Col. USA (ret.)
Author of On Killing, On Combat, Warrior Mindset, and Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill

So, the brutal, merciless, savage mass murderer of children in CT was another in a long line of avid video game players who turned their sick fantasy into our tragic reality.  Surprised?

I train military and law enforcement nation-wide, on the road almost 300 days a year for 15 years.  I was an Army Ranger and a West Point Psych Professor.  An author of many very successful books on this subject.  This is the perspective that I come from...

Bottom line:  From a military and law enforcement perspective, violent video games are "murder simulators" that train kids to kill.  They act just like police and military simulators, providing conditioned responses, killing skills, and desensitization, except they are inflicted on children without the discipline of military and police training.

Research on the background of our juvenile mass murderers show they have one thing in common:  they ALL dropped out of life and filled their lives with nothing but violent movies and violent video games.  The sickest video games and the sickest movies are very very sick indeed.  And the sick sick kids who immerse themselves in this "entertainment" are very sick indeed.

Jonesboro in the middle school, Columbine in the high school, Virginia Tech in the college, and now this generation gives us Sandy Hook as adults…

The Sandy Hook massacre has been building for years. And there is much, much worse yet to come.   (They are NOT "shootings" they are massacres ... five died in the "Boston Massacre" which touched off the American Revolution … six murdered in the "St. Valentines Day Massacre" … many times more were murdered in Sandy Hook and we hide the reality from ourselves by calling it a "shooting" … "shooting" is what happens on the range … a "shooter" is the guy who got lucky during deer season!  These are brutal mass murderers, committing savage massacres unlike anything seen in human history.)

This has all been building up for years.  Consider the stats on officers murdered in the line of duty in the US:

'08: 42
'09: 48
'10: 56
'11: 72

Anyone see a pattern here?  Medical technology is holding DOWN the murder rate.  The number of murdered cops should be going down every year.

These are criminals who practiced killing cops since they were six years old, every day of their lives, playing Grand Theft Auto, and now they are primed to kill cops as adults.

If we intentionally tried to raise a generation cocked and primed to kill, we could not have done a better job.

The answer?  Parents MUST enforce the rating system.  They MUST understand the danger.  An "M" (mature, 17 and above ONLY) rated game is the same as an "X" rated movie!  The people who manufacture the game say so.  Their own industry says so!  A "T" (teen) rating means no child under 13 should play the game.  Period.  It is a very tragic, horrendous situation when adults let their children immerse themselves in M rated games!   Just like, sex, gambling, porn, alch, tobacco, drugs, guns, and automobiles:  these are all things that adults must not give to kids!

Not all of the kids who play these sick games will become killers, but they will all be desensitized to human death and suffering, intentionally and realistically inflicted by themselves, for their own entertainment…

If YOUR child is one who commits a brutal crime, and YOU let them play these sick games, then the blood is on your hands too…  (And YOU may well be the first one to die, as with this most recent incident.)

This is NOT business as usual in America.  Never lose your sense of outrage that every kid in America has to do lock-down drills, practicing "hunkering down and hiding" for when kids come to kill them.  Never lose your sense of outrage that all of our cops practice going in our schools and shooting our kids with "active shooter response plans."  These things are necessary, they work, they save lives and hold down the body count, but they are not normal.  This is NOT just another day in America.  This is NOT "business as usual" in America…  Something is very, very wrong.

And it is a world-wide phenomenon!  Germany has had two mass murders in their high schools with body counts that beat Columbine.  England had a massacre in the kindergarten class in Dunblain Scotland, tragically forecasting Sandy Hook.  Canada had the Taber, Alberta school massacre.  Finland has had three school massacres.  In Norway the killer got on an island and killed all their kids.  In China killers are going in the classrooms with knives and gutting and hacking the kids.  In Belgium a sicko got in the day care center and hacked 12 babies in the cribs, dressed as the Joker form the Batman movie.  (All those European gun laws made THEM real safe, eh?)

And we though it wouldn't happen here!?

And you think its over now?  The worst is yet to come.  We will reap what we sow for a generation to come…. Until we stop teaching our kids to kill.

The Solution that will work

To protect our children

It is not just crazy people

There are also terrorists threat

They kill their own kids why wouldn't they kill ours? All the signs, and laws and regulations are not going to stop them. The only thing they fear is failure, they do not fear imprisonment or death only failure. We have to detect and deter them 100% of the time, they only need to get it right once.

Weather we like it or not, the world has changed, we have trained 2 generations of people to give bad guys what they want, and we have taught 2 generations of children to embrace violence without discipline. We must accept the fact that there are people who hate us, just because of who we are, and will go to any length to destroy us.

We have to stop playing pretend, and get our heads out of the sand, stand up and realize that these threats are real, and can happen in any city, town, or village, at any time. While we can hope and pray they don't, we should prepare in-case they do. The fastest response time is by those at the scene, I'm not saying arm all of the teachers, but allow those willing to be trained, and armed to do so. Allow those licensed parents to carry on school property.

It is not about the guns, people have had access to guns for well over a hundred years, including repeating arms, but the chaos has been going on for less than 20 of those years. Our society has changed, and we either need to step up and do what is necessary, or be destroyed

In the 1700's authorities required that all men be armed, due to the threat of Indian attack, well the Indians are no longer the threat, but gangs, terrorists, and those sick mentally ill are. We do not need to have everyone armed, but allow those that are willing and trained to do so. Since their biggest fear is failure the short term answer is to meet force with force.

Laws signs and bans will not be a solution, because those with a cause, will find a way, and are not intimidated by either laws or signs, how many laws did the Sandy Hook killer break? Passing more would prevent it? Did a locked door with a sign stop him? Did an adult telling him stop, stop him? The only thing that stopped him was a bullet, in this case his own after the carnage. From all reports the teachers tried to protect those lambs, but without teeth they died with their flock. I would have much rather heard that he died from a bullet that one of the teachers fired, and ended his rampage. Had our laws allowed, and even if one had been armed they would have at least  had a change.

The laws we have put in place to protect our children were as much an instrument in the killing as the guns the killer brought with him.

We have been hit, now we can either play Chicken Little and run hither and yon and cry the sky is falling, or we can do what Americans have always done, and pull ourselves up by our boot straps, and protect all those soft targets with citizens willing to step into the breach.

Message from Tom Givens

In the wake of the tragic, horrific slaughter of innocent school children in Connecticut, there has been a renewed cry for more gun control laws. This stems from the natural need to “do something” when a tragedy of this proportion occurs.  I agree we need to do something, but the “something” I want is a bit different.
The “Gun Free Schools Act of 1994” made it a federal crime to possess a firearm on any school property.  Many states enacted similar legislation at the state level, as the federal act required them to do so or lose certain federal funding. Thus, it has been a crime to go onto school property anywhere in the US while in possession of a gun for the past 28 years. Has that helped?
Well, I did some research and I cannot find a single mass school shooting in the US prior to 1994, when this bill was passed. For the purposes of this discussion, I will define a “mass school shooting” as one in which three or more people were killed. I have found 14 such incidents in the United States between 1997 and the Newtown, CT, incident of yesterday.  That is an average of one incident every two years.  ALL OF THESE OCCURRED AFTER THE ENACTMENT OF THE GUN FREE SCHOOLS ACT OF 1994!  Let me emphasize that—every mass school shooting in the US occurred AFTER it became illegal to possess a gun on school grounds. Why?
The answer should be obvious. By making schools a “gun free zone”, you automatically disarm all law abiding citizens at those locations. This is tantamount to placing a sign on the front of the building inviting criminals and mentally deranged persons to come shoot up the place. “Come on in. We’re all unarmed, by law. We won’t interfere with your mayhem.” Disgusting…..
I, for instance, have a state issued handgun carry permit. I am certified by the NRA as a Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor and I have been certified by the FBI as a police firearms instructor. I am certified by two states to train and certify new firearms instructors for those states. I have held a law enforcement officer commission. I travel all over the US teaching defensive firearms use. Yet, by law, I would commit a felony by stepping onto school grounds while wearing my sidearm.  Despite this, someone who, for whatever reason, wants to shoot up a school can walk right in. If he is willing to murder six year olds in cold blood, he certainly won’t be deterred by a law against bringing a gun onto the campus. Duh….. To think otherwise is so naïve as to be a form of mental illness.
I think it is truly ironic that in the first mass school shooting I could find, occurring in 1997, the mayhem was stopped when the Assistant Principal got a handgun from his car and confronted the gunman, who surrendered to him. Thank God the Assistant Principal had an ILLEGAL gun that day.
A couple of weeks ago, there was an attempted mass shooting at a mall in Oregon. The demented shooter had a high capacity semiautomatic rifle, but he only managed to kill two people and wound one other before killing himself.  Why was the body count so low, given that this was obviously a copy-cat version of the Aurora, CO, shootings?  The answer is simple. Because Nick Meli, age 22, was at the mall there with his wife and child. Nick has a concealed carry permit and was wearing a handgun concealed on his person. When the suspect began shooting, Nick drew his gun and verbally challenged the gunman. Meli held his fire because of innocent people in the background (excellent judgment under stress), but his actions caused the gunman to break off the attack, run into a nearby service corridor and kill himself, ending the spree. Of course, the lamestream media will not tell you about Nick. They would prefer a higher body count rather than tell you a legally armed citizen saved the day. Here are a few other instances that two minutes of internet research brought to light. In each case, a legally armed private citizen saved lives by being there and by being armed.
1. In Pearl, Mississippi in 1997, 16-year-old Luke Woodham stabbed and bludgeoned to death his mother at home, then killed two students and injured seven at his high school. As he was on his way to another school building , he was stopped by Assistant Principal Joel Myrick, who had gone out to get a handgun from his car.  Having that gun was illegal, but it saved lives.
2. In Edinboro, Pennsylvania in 1996, 14-year-old Andrew Wurst shot and killed a teacher at a school dance, and shot and injured several other students. He had just left the dance hall, carrying his gun  when he was confronted by the dance hall owner James Strand, who lived next door and kept a shotgun at home.
3. In Winnemucca, Nevada in 2008, Ernesto Villagomez killed two people and wounded two others in a bar filled with three hundred people. He was then shot and killed by a patron who was carrying a gun (and had a concealed carry license).
4. In Colorado Springs in 2007, Matthew Murray killed four people at a church. He was then shot several times by Jeanne Assam, a church member, volunteer security guard, and former police officer (she had been dismissed by a police department 10 years before, and to my knowledge hadn’t worked as a police officer since).
So, I do want some legislative action. I want “gun free zones” abolished, at least for legally armed citizens with government issued licenses to carry.  This is real “common sense” gun legislation.
