I was asked to speak at a local tea party event

First off I want to thank the community for inviting me, & I’d like to, Thank you for attending. Now I ask you why are these get events of Freemen & Freewomen exercising their right to assemblage & free speech cause both the liberal politicians, & the media so much concern, especially when the gathering venue also allows those free people to exercise their right to carry a gun? Because they fear the loss of their power!

To Quote Jeff Snyder author of A Nation of Cowards
“Laws disarming honest citizens proclaim that the government is the master, not the servant of the people”

Folks I am not here today on behalf of myself or the NRA or any political body. I am here out of love for the United States of America, and out of respect for those that gave all to protect our rights, from the Green at Lexington, to the trenches of France to Berlin, Iwo Jima, Chosen, Saigon and to today’s conflicts. Will we surrender our liberties and our rights, and the heritage of our children, for the government to enslave us with mandatory health care, and saddle future generations with the burden of extreme taxes? I hope I am not alone. Remember those that founded this great nation, came to build a new life with their hands and sweat, not a free handout.

Ben Franklin said: “They that can give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither safety or liberty”

It is time the government listens whether it’s Washington DC, Columbus, or your local community that their power is granted by we the people, and the people have the right & responsibility to stop that power when it is taken to excess. Our rights come from a power higher than man, and their power comes from us.

Dwight Eisenhower said:”Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed-else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die”

But why the 2nd amendment at this gathering? When the founders formed the government they installed a series of checks and balances, and one of those checks and balances was the second amendment, it is not about hunting deer, it was to balance the power. If an elected official does not trust me with the correct tools to protect myself, my family and my country, how can I trust them? Who better to protect yourself, you or some bureaucrat? We are once again headed to the Supreme Court, to affirm this is an individual right, and not a collective one. The founders’ words were clear, why do today’s politicians not understand? Remember also that this right is threatened by not only our officials, but by the UN, and Mexico. Should we pay for crimes in Mexico? Should we bend our knees to the UN?

When you leave here today I hope you’ll take these words to heart: “If your elected officials do not understand something as simple as “Shall not be infringed” they are not fit for the duties bestowed upon them. It does not matter whether it’s the village the city or the state, if they cannot trust a citizen with an assault rifle, they cannot be trusted and it is our duty as citizens to replace them with those that do.

So you have a choice whether you are a subject or a citizen, if you are a subject rollover and do what you are told. If you are a citizen get active call, write, and email every candidate from the town council to 1600 Pennsylvania Av, and support those that support your beliefs
Thomas Jefferson stated: A government, big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough, to take everything you have.

Our rights will not perish with me
Thank you

Color me dumb, but

787 Billion to create 25,000 (gov claims 30,000) jobs, that's how much per job average? (avg job created $2,600,000)
Along with 288 Billion in tax cut saved 650,000 jobs (avg per job "saved" is $443,000)

Even if we say total is 690,000 jobs that's over 1,500,000 per job.

Now I don't have a degree, and my calculator may be broken, but in my opinion it would have done more for the economy to have held a lottery, and given 500,000 people a million tax free, and said have fun. It would have saved 287 Billion in stimlus, and the 288 billion tax cut wouldn't be needed.

After all, they would have spent it, bought new cars, TV's, houses, etc, and that in turn would have kept a lot of things going.
Could this be a cause of gun accidents?

To their surprise, they found that those with the mutant gene did worse, consistently.

The gene controls a protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which affects memory.

Mutant Genes, never heard of that one

Found!

said barrels of pyrodex were found in a foreclosed home at 5502 Wasigo Drive. The 500 pounds of chemical were found.

The Pyrodex is commonly used in Civil War reenactments. It was stored in a container that was not secure so it had became wet, started to decay, and was unstable.

That's a lot of Black powder, of course it wasn't in barrels, as the first article said. To be honest I thought once it was wet it was inert, or is there some other chemical process going on?

Pocket Carry

Para Carry 9, DeSantis, The Nemesis® Holster, It is a little heavier than most pocket guns, at 24 ounces, but it is 9 rounds of 9mm
Well as to painting the house

The north and east sides are done, if weather permits I may get the west side done before winter, and the front will wait until spring, as I have to replace a lot of wood there around the doors etc., target shed is also done. I still have to trim out the entrance to the basement

The guys came out and hooked gas line to Generator, now the electrician needs to do his thing and that will be done.

Once the weather turns, I'll finish the other side of the training building, on the inside, and finally get the shop set up.
Stimulus ?

With nearly 12,000,000 guns sold in the last 12 months, and how many millions of rounds of ammo, gun show tickets, holsters, mags, etc what has that done for the economy? I'm only guessing but on the low side just say the average gun is $500*, that's like $600,000,000 in gun sales also you add the rest, and it's a lot of stimulus, without any government bail-outs

*Figuring avg plain jane pump action SG at around $300 to AR's at around $900 the avg would be $600 but figured low

Update Nov 3rd Uncle has the numbers

I like Paddle Holsters

I usually wear one of Jeff Stoners, adjustable models

They are comfortable, and usually pretty easy to slip on and off, but one of the issues I've had was finding a paddle mag pouch. Sorta of defeats the purpose of a paddle holster if you have to remove your belt to remove the mag pouch. I know Fobus, and Blackhawk both make em, but I wanted leather, and found a nifty product from Gould & Goodrich, it's not only a paddle style but adjustable for ether single stack or double stack mags, and under $30

Note, Yes Blackhawk did provide some swag at the Blackwater event last year

Just go to Wal-Mart

Guess we won't have to worry to much about Chinese toxins at that point.
I am a fan of a strong side mechanical safety

My reason being if my gun is grabbed, it will take longer for the grabber to figure out how to make it go bang.

But there have been a lot of attempts to idiot proof guns, The Arms Room takes a look.

But nothing beats adherence to the Safety Rules

Besides every time they try to design an idiot proof firearm, a better designed idiot is forthcoming
So the Anti's say guns cause homicides

When are they going to call for licenses to have tire irons??
Anybody tried these yet?

Unusual, but given anything can happen anywhere, that's why we carry guns.

Of course given it was in the Great White North, they likely don't allow citizens to carry guns in their National Parks

Yuppie 911

One evening the fathers-and-sons team activated their beacon when they ran out of water.
Rescuers, who did not know the nature of the call, could not launch the helicopter until morning. When the rescuers arrived, the group had found a stream and declined help.
That night, they activated the emergency beacon again. This time the Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter, which has night vision capabilities, launched into emergency mode.
When rescuers found them, the hikers were worried they might become dehydrated because the water they found tasted salty. They declined an evacuation, and the crew left water.

Firearms First Aid
Well how about improving ours?

but it just makes sense that trained officers should be prepared to respond immediately to public safety threats, regardless of whether they are off-duty or across state lines.

While I'm all for this bill passing, I'd like to see the case for improving the laws for ccw holders, after all shouldn't off duty officers be subject to the same laws as we are?
OK, It's our fault they kill

Rethinking the ways in which the media discusses these
murderers may be one avenue that society can explore to combat such brutal
behavior.

Inspiring

From Pam Greer
Phone call

One of my Illinois students called last night, he had taken his son shooting, Sunday, they had a new Berreta 92, and WW whitebox, 4 or 5 rounds into the session the gun exploded, and his son got burned on both his hands & face. He was still pretty upset, to soon to tell if it was the gun or the ammo, but I am going to suspect it was an ammo failure, as some of the WWW, I have bought recently has been kind of off, (Not chambering), I'll update as I get more details.
Another Open Carry Discussion

Also an interesting open carry story:
Friend of mind works in the the summer at Yellowstone National Park, they had a "Man with a gun call", so they called him to check the area, and see if there was a man with a gun, and if there was not to do anything , other than confirm the sighting.
Which he did, and a female park ranger responded, she explained to the subject that it would not be lawful until Feb. 22, of 2010 to legally carry a gun in the park. She was more than willing to give him a break and told him if he returned to his vehicle, unloaded and stored the firearm in the trunk, there would be no further action.

The subject decided to challenge her, as it "Was his right to carry a gun openly", The ranger once again explained to this idiot that the law prohibited carry in a national park until next year, and he would just take the gun to his vehicle and secure it she wouldn't arrest him.

So he argued with her some more, and ended up face down on the boardwalk, and cuffed, and under arrest.
This individual made a bad decision in where he was going to OC, and was not wise enough to take the break, when one was given.

guns defensively with
victims who did not

So they say.....

The media seems to say we are turning the corner, and the economy is getting better, they point to Wall Street, but the only reason that has been going up, is the dollar is worth less. I highly doubt the dollar is going to get any better anytime soon.

As Americans we for the most part take things for granted, things like food at grocery stores, lights when we flip a switch, heat when we nudge the thermostat, gas at the gas station. True there are shortages from time to time of this or that, but we get by.

When things have gotten bad the Government steps in and fixes it, but those times are changing. The Government is under water or soon will be, and those that are prepared will weather the storm better than those who think it will be status quo.

You WILL be on your own, and it could last a long time, how prepared are you?
3 days?, a week? a month? a year? without going to the store?

As I said yesterday it's more than just guns and bullets

Figuring out your needs will not be simple, it depends on where you live and the size of your family. If your a family of 5 in North Dakota it's going to take more prep, than a couple in South Carolina. Likely easier for someone who lives in the country versus an apartment dweller in a city.
Start now, start here or here to get ideas get a move on invest in your future.

Are you going to stay where you are? or are you going to BUG out to another location? Can you pre-stage some of stuff, or will you need to take it all with you when you go? No sense amassing more than you can haul. Got enough fuel to get there?

I'd say plan for at least 3 months, longer would be better.
At the very least, items to address:
1. Food and water
2. Shelter
3. Protection
4. Medical

Prepare for the worst, pray for the best, maybe this house of cards will hold together, but if it falls the more you have done to get ready, the better you will weather the storm.

Malfunctions

Attempted to shoot the Gun Blog 9 yesterday, was shooting some Fiocchi 115 grain, I had to keep bumping the slide to get her into battery, then on ejection it held the fired case, I thought it might be the ammo and switched over to CCI Blazer, but it continued to not go in to battery, and held the empty case in the extractor, and failed to eject.

I'm guessing between 1500-2000 rounds since the gun was serviced after the Blog shoot at BW.
I also tried using different mags no improvement. Recoil spring? Wrong Lube?

Also of late my Kimber Custom II Stainless Target (9mm) won't chamber WW whitebox, but is working with everything else, so that I consider an ammo issue

The Buckeye Bash

The Bash is one of the fundraisers that BFA uses to support the non profit Foundation, I have been proud to help as sponsor in their events.
Of course with the McDonald case going to the SCOTUS, they are working on filing a brief as they did in Heller, and the briefs are not cheap. Get on board send them a check, I understand it is tax deductible.

We need to win McDonald there is no reason your right to self defense should end at a state line, or city limits.

The bash had surprise visitor the Governor of Ohio Ted Strickland, the first pro gun Governor in decades, and he is a democrat. He has had a solid pro gun stance in his first term, so hopefully we can get behind him for a second term.

The leading RINO is straddling the fence, no surprise there.
Gun Show Saturday

Seldom, make the gun shows on Saturday's, sometimes on Sunday morning, but yesterday, we were going to the Buckeye Firearms Assoc. Foundation "Buckeye Bash" event. So we left a bit early and hit the gun show. The Bloomberg effect was apparent, they gave everyone a card with the rules for selling a firearm, and every table, had a small sign stating background checks were required, and posters high lighting the federal laws regarding firearm sales adorned the walls, perhaps it's a good precaution, it make keep Michael's private investigators from acquiring a gun, I don't think it will slow down the criminals down in the slightest.

It was packed, everybody was busy, and sales appeared pretty brisk, I checked one of my favorite dealers, nearly as soon as I walked in the door, and they had a couple of used guns I was interested in checking out, they were about 3 deep in lookers, so I went around the room, the usual start at one end & work my way back. Found Acme Ammo and picked up some .223, and visited with the folks at Stoner Holster. By the time, I got back to Loveland Shooters Supply, both of the guns had been sold, and they were still busy.

The good news from the show was while it was still higher than last year ammo prices were coming down, the avg. price for .223 was around $350, which was well below $1,000 a few shows ago. Even found some 9mm at $250/1000 which while higher than last year about $50 less than a couple of months ago. So perhaps turning the curve on ammo shock.

Left the show, and with some time to kill, stopped at the Vandalia Range & Armory, and it looked like everyone that had been at the show, had found a shortcut and gotten there ahead of us, they were packed too. I headed for the used case.

I know I've always been a proponent of carrying the biggest gun, you can conceal, but there are times I want a to carry a backup. I had toyed with the idea earlier this year of carrying the S&W 1911PD (commander size) with a Colt Officer, being seamless in transferring from one to the other, and the magazines for the commander would fit the officer. That idea got derailed when a friend of mine wanted the Colt more than I did, and I was still pretty convinced I can shoot the 9mm better under stress.

Well laying in the corner, of the used case was a Para Carry 9 an officer sized 1911 LDA, she had been carried, and she is by no measure pretty, but inside she is tight, she hadn't been shot much, and the LDA trigger was smooth, and the magazines from my Para LTC will fit, so it appears I have resolved my need (ok want) for a BUG.

It's simple both guns function the same, same caliber, and the mags for the primary will fit the back-up. Will be at the range today with a class, and we'll get chance to see how she dances.

But I have a feeling they are going to ship and sell as much as they can into Cali before the new law goes into effect, and people have to be fingerprinted to buy it, and well of course those that won't be able to buy ammo after it goes into effect (those that may already have several sets of fingerprints on file with law enforcement)

After all any self respecting gun runner selling guns , know the market is going to shrink, if they have no ammo for their wares.

The bad guys will steal it, or go out of state and buy it (which will lead for calls for more laws, much like NYC, saying the only reason their laws aren't working is because everyone else is so lax in theirs)

Just one more law that only affects those that already obey the law.

Idiots!

They didn't want to look bad..................
Don't know if it is true

From an email:
When it comes to guns. Looks like Vermont has more real cowboys than Arizona. Vermont State Rep. Fred Maslack has read the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as well as Vermont 's own Constitution very carefully, and his strict interpretation of these documents is popping some eyeballs in New England and elsewhere. Maslack recently proposed a bill to register non-gun-owners and require them to pay a $500 fee to the state.

Thus Vermont would become the first state to require a permit for the luxury of going about unarmed andassess a fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun. Maslack read the "militia" phrase of the Second Amendment as not only affirming the right of the individual citizen to bear arms, but as a clear mandate to do so. He believes that universal gun ownership was advocated by the Framers of the Constitution as an antidote to a "monopoly of force" by the government as well as criminals.

Vermont 's constitution states explicitly that "the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State" and those persons who "conscientiously scrupulous of bearing arms" shall be required to "pay such equivalent." Clearly, says Maslack, Vermonters have a constitutional obligation to arm themselves so that they are capable of responding to "any situation that may arise".

Under the bill, adults who choose not to own a firearm would be required to register their name, address, Social Security Number, and driver's license number with the state.

"There is a legitimate government interest in knowing who is prepared to defend the state should they be asked to do so," Maslack says. Vermont already boasts a high rate of gun ownership along with the leastrestrictive laws of any state - it's currently the only state that allows a citizen to carry a concealed firearm without a permit. (Alaska does too)

This combination of plenty of guns and few laws regulating them has resulted in a crime rate that is the third lowest in the nation.
Open Verses Concealed

I brought it up here

And again it's my opinion: In Ohio there are no rules for signage, and yes I know you have to knowingly be in a "No Guns" posted store, to technically be in trouble. But I also understand ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of most law enforcement.
FYI: In Ohio entering a posted business is a 4th degree misdemeanor (Sure you can hire a lawyer and fight it, it's your choice)

I do my up most not to do business with stores that post the signs, but some of the stores do not post clearly, but I always look, as I really refuse to support those that refuse to support us.

So back in 04 I stopped at the IGA in Germantown Ohio, to pick up some items, and I checked the front entrance, no sign, got a cart, went through the 2nd set of doors, did my shopping, and as I recall I did bend down and pick up something I think that was when my jacket rode up and exposed the Browning, I had gotten that item, then went to check out, took my items to my car, and was seated in the car, when 3 police cars arrived, and blocked me from moving.
Long story short I told the officer I had worn the holster in, but the gun had been locked in glove compartment, he also stated it was clearly posted, I said sure that's why I, I had left the gun in the car, the clerk who called it in, saw the holster, but wasn't sure they had seen a gun, so they let me go.

I stopped back there a couple of days later, as I wanted to see "the sign", inside at the second set of doors was an 8 1/2x 11 sheet of paper with print about the size you are reading, with not only "No Guns Allowed" but but a pretty detailed explanation of the Ohio R.C. Now I know you could have hired a lawyer, and maybe even won, I do prefer to spend my money in other ways. I have not returned to that store.

I have since entered other stores to later find out they were also poorly posted, but I am also more aware of keeping it concealed, so there have been no further problems.

So for those that feel they must OC then go ahead, just be careful out there ok?

Doubt this would happen at a gun range

ID TARGET BEFORE FIRING!

Keeping a flashlight with the home defense gun, would have been a good idea, also using a verbal warnings (IE: "Get out of my House!", I have a gun I will shoot!")
Just having a firearm is not enough, training is the factor, and with training there is less of a tendency to panic, and fire blindly.

I Suppose this is a Bad Idea Too

There is no perfect solution,
Perhaps the tried and true, is handgun holstered or out of sight, hands in plain view, do everything the officer tells you to do. Weather you are LE, Security, or a CCW, it's best just to do what the officer tells you. Even if you would use the above mentioned safety product, it's best to do all of that. But not all encounters go that way and good guys do get shot.
Some say criminals will use them to get the upper hand, well the bad guys get uniforms, and lights, surplus police cars, and commit crimes, so since we know there are fake cops, should we just ignore those red & blue lights? Or do we throw on the flashers & drive to a well lit area, where there are other people?
Some may want to add this product to their kit, some may not, it is after all a personal choice.

"P#** On Golf"

Those that have attended the Bulletproof Mind seminars has heard the quote

Might be some good reason to do so:

In the United States, there are over 27 million men, women and children playing over 500 million rounds of golf every year. The medical research states that 50% of all who play golf become injured

Golf can be deadly

In a brief search of net it appears approx 100 people die at golf courses every year, an avg of 12-13 killed by being struck with balls

Golf clubs as weapons Assaults with golf clubs

Mike Bloomberg loves to play golf a sport that injures 13.5 million and results in over 100 deaths a year

Not a Bad Idea / or not...

"Originally designed for law enforcement officers, the designers of the DSM Safety Banner thought, that the American citizens also deserved a way to immediately identify themselves if they became involved in a critical situation where uniformed officers response was imminent. No one had ever considered a safe way for legally armed citizens to identify themselves with 360 degree efficiency to responding law enforcement officers. " From DSM website, link above

Although I think it's a bit pricey, it would be perhaps an aid in not getting shot, but it is one more thing to carry around, (I have thought of a "drop down" panel that might say "Armed Citizen", but I don't always wear the same outer garment)

The cost to file a brief with the SCOTUS costs around $20,000 in Heller as I recall there were over 40 filed on behalf of Heller. A lot of individuals will give of their time and expertise, least we can do is throw a few dollars their way, what is the 2nd Amendment worth to you?

Good Advice

Gun Fires Self

Well Jenning's has closed and reopened under at least 4 names, since they were Jenning's. They are to guns as the Yugo was to the car world. They were always at the low end of quality, and if shot very much wore out fast. I have seen them over the years usually jamming, and other odd things. But they weren't much to start with. One going into a slam fire mode does not surprise me, he likely bumped it just right when he laid it down. I've seen the same thing happen with Bersa's and a few AR's with worn disconnects (Back when a lot of cheap parts were made in China). "Cheap can be Expensive"

Some are already predicting another 5-4 on the Chicago case, as the balance is about the same, one liberal left, and was replaced by another, of course another liberal gets appointed then the balance would change, history is interesting.

it's not entirely clear how many times Michael and Sherri Thourot's 9mm accidentally went off Saturday, or what caused the handgun to fire. The pistol was a Jennings make.

An *M2 Browning model .50-caliber machine gun mounted on a white Ford F-150, a homemade turret welded to the frame. A .30-caliber rifle, a Barret .50-caliber rifle on a bipod, *a modified AR-15, a 30-30 rifle, parts for a 37mm grenade launcher and a couple of AK-47s, along with about 9,000 rounds and a *pound and a half of cocaine.

* all illegal in the US.

**With its liberal gun laws, Arizona is at the heart of the storm. Unlike most states, the popular semiautomatic rifles, AK-47s, AR-15s, are easily purchased with little more than a driver's license and some forms. The large caliber rifles, like those Beltrán stored, are also for sale.

**Most states you fill out a 4473 Show ID , pass an Instant NICS check you are good to go

***With the Mexican border seething, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton acknowledged what Mexico has long argued: This country's "insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade," she said in March. "Our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border to arm these criminals causes the deaths of police, of soldiers and civilians."

*** And drugs are not killing police, & civilans here?

**** Then there are the grenades. April 2008: Rafael Alcantar, a Mexican man, is sentenced in federal court, charged with trying to buy a 40mm grenade launcher, three fragmentation grenades and 26 full-auto machine guns from undercover agents in Tucson.
October 2008: The U.S. consulate in Monterrey, Mexico, is attacked; the gunmen tossed a grenade at the front door. Days later, the Mexican Army finds 20 more grenades.
February 2006: ATF agents find a manufacturing plant of home-made hand grenades in Laredo, Texas. Ninety-one roughly shaped grenades are taken away.
ATF's official position is that grenades mostly come from the Central American black market. Armies saw massive demobilizations after the civil wars in the late 1980s — men returning home, not all empty-handed, Newell said.
Of course, like Alcantar's case, some people in Mexico believe they can buy those same grenades here in the United States. "Now, obviously, they came up here to buy them." Newell says.

**** We can't get those here, but since they think they can, we should change the law?

It sounds a good bit like what the Russians tried, and that did not end well, or what we tried in Vietnam they only attacked the fire-bases that were in their way, and went around a lot of them, that didn't end well ether.....
You want to win you have to go to the enemy, and yeah you are going to lose people, one of the reasons we call it war
There are no easy answers, but if they begin to think they are winning, and driving us out, they will hit us here. They never attacked Mother Russia, until they pulled out.

The Only Ones File
Good thoughts on self defense
Not the Brightest Idea

I'd really have to think at least twice at going after big boned dangerous game with a handgun, again like anything else you have to hit the right spot, and even then it can still be alive enough to kill you. The best idea is keep your distance till you know it is in fact dead.

A good hit beats everything else
Obama Fail
Difference of Opinion

I fully agree we have the right to open carry, but it does have its problems.

1. It may not deter the bad guy, it may attract him. There has been more than one case of police officers murdered, for their handguns.

2.Carrying open, could make you the first target, as you will be a perceived threat.

3. 98% of the people are sheep, and for a lot of them a firearm scares them, some even get scared or frightened when they see a police officer with a gun. For the most part people will accept what they can't see, for example concealed carry, they may know it's legal, and people may even be carrying guns around them, but they don't see the guns. Yes they are in denial, but it is the object that frightens them, they really do believe that the gun is the threat not the person carrying it. People don't like to have things forced upon them, and they tend to resist, yes even sheep. So when we try to force them to accept our right to open carry, and they are frightened, might they then vote for the politician that says we need "reasonable gun control laws for safety", or they might write that check to Sara? Yes there are 70-80 million gun owners in the country, but they fall in two distinct camps. There are "Gun Owners" , & "People who have Guns", and the latter make up the majority. Even the "Gun Owners" are splintered due to their interests. I've had hunters tell me if assault weapons were banned, the government would leave their hunting guns alone, I've had skeet shooters tell nothing wrong with waiting periods, as they had to wait 6 months to a years for their skeet gun, and it goes on and on. So "Anti Gunners" and "Gun Owners" are both minorities, and people who don't have guns, or may have a couple are the majority. They may stay pretty neutral if we don't force our guns upon them, and many of them can even be converted once they gain the knowledge through education and training, weather it's with an Instructor, or just an avid gunny willing to teach them, some examples, are found on the blogs posted to the right. Usually under the title of "New Shooter Report". I've had students that burst into tears the first time they fired a gun, some the first time they even handled one, but once they gained the knowledge, became avid shooters and owners.

In closing if you feel you must open carry for whatever reason then do so, but remember you may well be one of the best recruiters for Sara Brady, as most people do believe what they don't know won't hurt them, keeping it concealed they don't know and are not frightened by it.
The battle for our 2nd Amendment are far from over, and it will continue on the Federal, the State, and the Local areas for sometime.
Those that know me, know I'm an avid supporter, I have donated more than I can afford at times, to the fight over the years, but I know it's the right thing to do, even if it means I have to sell a gun or two to make up for the check I wrote.
I for one would prefer to keep the other side weak, that we win as easy as possible.
Rather than force them to accept it, I'd rather ease them into it as it were, but that will take time.

added 10/5/09 Per Massad Ayoob:
"Concealed Means ConcealedA very few people carrying guns for the first time feel an irresistible urge to let others see that “they’ve got the power.” First-time carriers and rookie cops, usually young in both cases, may fall into this trap. It is a practice to avoid for several reasons. In most of this society, the only people the general public sees carrying guns in public are uniformed “protector figures,” such as police officers and security guards. When they see someone not identifiable as such, who is carrying a lethal weapon, they tend to panic.
This makes no friends among the voting public for the gun owners’ rights movement—you do not make people into friends and sympathizers, by frightening them—and can lead to a panicky observer getting the wrong idea and reporting you to the police as a “man with a gun.” This can lead to all sorts of unpleasant confrontations.
Moreover, a harasser who has picked you as his victim and knows you carry a gun can create a situation where there are no other witnesses present, and then make the false claim that you threatened him with the weapon. This is a very serious felony called Aggravated Assault. It is his word against yours.
The fact that you are indeed carrying the gun he describes you pointing at him can make his lie more believable than your truth, to the ears of judge and jury.
MCRGO, Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners, is directly responsible for getting reform concealed carry legislation enacted in their state, and has been in the forefront of fighting for the rights of armed citizens in that state. MCRGO’s Steve Dulan, in the organization’s Weekly E’News of 6/23/08, had some cogent points to make on the topic of private citizens carrying handguns visibly in public:“Open carry of firearms, subject to MCL 750.234d, it is legal to carry a visible pistol in public. MCRGO has not adopted an official position on this subject,” wrote Dulan, who continued, “I agree with Ted Nugent and many others that it is a bad idea in almost every situation.
Tactically, you are giving up the element of surprise should you face a deadly force situation. Furthermore, you run the risk of being called in to 9-1-1 as a ‘man with a gun.’ I have been on police ride-alongs when this call comes over the radio. It creates a very dangerous situation for all concerned. I do not carry openly. I have a CPL (Concealed Pistol License) and take care to choose a gun and holster that, along with appropriate clothing, allow me to keep my gun concealed unless/until I need it to save a life.”As cogent and valid as Steve Dulan’s arguments are, it still makes sense to have legal open carry available as an emergency option. If the wind accidentally blows your coat open and reveals the gun, an open carry provision assures you have committed no crime. If someone who has not yet felt the need to get a concealed carry license suddenly begins getting death threats, open carry provides an emergency avenue of self-protection until the paperwork can be processed to acquire the license to carry the weapon discreetly out of sight."
