Well it was a bitter day on the range, we only had 3 students, one had a pretty good idea how to shoot, one had shot a gun, & one had a mortal fear of guns.
Luck would have it that Lady D came down & was able to get the girl on target, once she got her past the tears, the cold was causing the Buck Marks to freeze up, which added a bit of flustration.
It can be a challenge to get 2 full hours in when you have small classes of 2 or 3, & the weather is like it was, I still find 6-8 a good number to fill the time as comfortably as possible, plus that many can huddle together for warmth. "Shooters" won't mind the cold to get the rangetime in, but newbies start thinking about freezing toes or fingers, & it affects their ability to shoot well.
Today we have one student & lord I do hope she knows how to shoot.
Of course I wonder about the two guys that canceled today because it was too cold, if they would have the fortitude to defend themselves with a handgun, if they wussed out due to weather.

Well almost the classroom has a few touch up spots, & there is still some trim to put up, closet still looking for joint compound, but we did a shake down cruise this weekend with a fairly large new Instructor class, & it went pretty well.
Several LE's & a couple of EMT's along with a few shooting enthusiasts that were wanting to get certified
Lots of kudos on the training, & even more for the food Miz Debby served up, & many comments on the new training building
All in all a good weekend!

4 days to finish new classroom that includes the bathroom, office & storage closet.
But it's getting there we have the classroom ceiling nearly painted, the bathroom is painted,
some of the walls are primed.
Thursday & Friday will be crazy, the outlets, switches, fans water heater will be installed along with the bathroom fixtures, the countertops for the kitchette & coffee area.
Plus cleaning & moving in.
It may not be completely done by Saturday, but it should be real useable by then
Wednesday, December 03, 2008
Working on classroom, trying to get it far enough done that we can be using it by the 13th
It's getting there & I hope to be putting primer on the walls by the end of the week.
I don't know how I had time to work, it's been very busy for over two weeks now, I am putting off getting in there this morning, but once I post this I'll be working on it.
not much time to post, or read other blogs.
We talk about Jeanie Assam, & everyone gets a copy of Wolves, Sheep & Sheepdogs, By LT Col Dave Grossman (ret), some get it like Lady Breda
But I think only about 5-10% take it with any serious thought

Well while I was still doing the 9-5 bit, I'd leave a bit early & stop at Lowes or Home Depot on the way to work, & pick up things I could haul in the car, they were both pretty much on the way to work.
But now, the 2 closest Lowes are both 25 miles away South Dayton, or Richmond Indiana.
So Black Friday we trooped up to Richmond & found a 3rd one Menards, I was surprised how much lower the prices were, but then I'm not sure how much I may have saved, making trips there when the others were on the way.
But now it does not make a lot of difference I'll likely be picking up the rest of what I need in Richmond.
It is pretty amazing what one can haul in a Crown Vic. For the interior of the building I have hauled all the framing lumber, Insulation bales, really everything except the drywall, which we had delivered. (A friend offered his truck, but for only $25 the Local Carter's brought it which also meant we only had to unload the truck)
Of course it's always amazing anything you pick up ahead of time because you know you are going to use it, has to be moved 50 billzillon times, because no matter where you put it, it's got to in the way
The last large item I need is a 5 foot sink base for the kitchenette, & which I could likely figure a way to haul it, I'll take the friend up on his offer to haul it for me.
Bear with me a couple of more weeks till this project is done, & we will get back to shooting & self Defense
Tuesday, November 25, 2008
Saturday we had 11 ccw students, & 3 Instructors, so the old classroom was crowded to say the least, the weather was not real great ether, but we got everyone through it
Sunday we had 2 ccw students & 2 Instructors, it was more comfortable on the range & in the classroom.
Monday worked on the new classroom, hanging drywall, the ceilings are done except for the storage closet.
Will be doing walls today so we can get the base board heaters in, but we can already tell a difference between the classroom & the garage sides of the building.

Well RIP S: 9/8/1981 E: 11/21/2008
That's a long time at one place, been through 3 different owners in an ever shrinking career field.
Although I thought it would last into retirement, the last 2 years have been hellish. It was to the point of dread every morning. The day's were a mentally exhausting, & seemed to suck the life out of me. All of the competition in the area has gone by the wayside, so I will continue down the path I started 5 years ago & that is training people for concealed carry & personal protection, (until Obama bans it) I suppose the real bummer was it was on their terms & not mine.
The new classroom is going to be done in a couple of weeks & the range expansion will hopefully be done before winter sets in. I have some reserves, so we will try fulltime training, & see where it leads.
Life is a highway, lets see where we are going, it may be one heck of an adventure!

with the building.....
The Drywall arrived Tuesday, & by the time we unloaded & carried all in, we didn't get a lot done, I'm sure it would be a lot easier if it were warmer, & there is no heat hooked up yet.
I have been running insulation & a friend has been helping with getting the drywall up, but it's nether going smoothly of as fast as I'd like, of course it does not take long to over run where I have not put the pink stuff. Last night the first couple of sheets went pretty well, but when we moved across the room we had not calulated the 1 3/4 inch band beam, it turned into a comedy of errors, I told Jim I was tired when I started, & now I was tried & flustrated, so it was time to stop. I get on it tonight, & I'll have all day tomorrow, but we have 12 hour classes back to back Saturday & Sunday, & the panel lifter has to go back Monday night. I'm sure we will make it ok,
but keeping the fingers crossed.
Friday, November 14, 2008
All the interior framing is done, the plumbing is roughed in, & the wiring is in place, & insulation has begun (itchy), hopefully Sunday, Monday evening & Tuesday I can finish that, & Tuesday afternoon the drywall will be delivered.
I'll be really glad when this project is done, I really tried to get this done last April-May, but everybody around here was booked up, the colder weather just adds to the excitement & planning. We will have to warm it up to do the drywall & paint.
I normally check the local news but didn't this morning, H/T to David Codrea

Barack Obama Resigning Senate Seat
He is calling his four-year term "one of the highest honors and privileges" of his life.
Lets see elected Nov 2006, took office Jan 2007, & started running for President in April of 2007 , how the heck is that 4 years??
I stand corrected "Except all of your basic facts are wrong. Barack was elected to the Senate in 2004, and he took office in 2005. " per Bitter
Of course I've heard was only there 143 days before he made his run for the Prez, so his work record is worst than I thought.
This election may have been a set back, but after gun owners get burned by Bahama, they may well lick their wounds, & learn that politicians lie. You will find the NRA stronger in 2010.

A Nice Blue Souvenir? NYT's Big Election Map Doesn't Show Actual Results The Times published a big blue map on the front page of its special election section -- but it's not a map of the 2008 results. It just shows the relative shift toward the Democrat, not that the Democrat actually won those counties.
Posted by: Rich Noyes 11/6/2008 12:59:15 PM
Okay, it’s probably a small thing to quibble about, but does everybody remember the impressive county-by-county election map that the New York Times published after the 2004 election, showing the United States as a sea of Republican red, with a few Democratic blue counties clustered on the coasts and a few urban pockets?
Well, today’s New York Times has a large map of the U.S. showing county-by-county election results as a sea of Democratic blue, with red areas limited to a few southern states, Arizona and Alaska. It looks like a Democratic landslide.
But Barack Obama did not actually win states like Utah, Montana, Idaho, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, South Carolina, etc., that this map shows as mostly or totally blue. What the New York Times published this year is a map showing the shift in a county’s vote from 2004, not the results. So if a Republican county voted for Bush by 12 points in 2004, but only gave McCain a seven-point advantage this year, the Times paints it as blue, not red.
The big blue map consumes the entire top half of the front page of the Times special election section of today’s paper. On pages P10 and P11, the Times has several more maps illustrating the election results, including a small county-by-county map that shows that, just like in 2004, most of the land mass of the U.S. is in “red” counties.
The Washington Post has a county-by-county results map that looks a lot like the map from 2004, although there is clearly a little more blue this year and the red is a little lighter.
There’s no disputing that Obama won on Tuesday, but the big blue map published by New York Times seems like a way to overstate the magnitude of the Democratic victory -- maybe just to give liberals a nice blue souvenir to hang in their office cubicles, or maybe a subliminal way of pushing the idea of a huge mandate for liberal government.

Know any gun owners that voted for bahama??
Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

I have been really busy with the interior of the building, well really Dana is doing most of the work I just have been going & getting building supplies.
But I have gotten the basement entrance sealed up & just have to finish the plumbing run for the building in the crawlspace & connect to the well pump.
But did a quick count last night,
I do have 3 stripped AR lowers, I also have an assembled lower but I'll give that to Dana for the work he is doing. I have several assembled rifles. I counted at least 85 30 rd mags, & another 20 or so 20 rounders. I have around 10k in 223 ammo.
There were at least 70 13 round browning mags
Likely 25 for the XD pistols (Although several are 10 rounders, a guy was at the gunshow selling them for $8.50 ea, verus $25 for the hi caps) & another 20 for the Sigs
I had only four mags for the mini-14 so I ordered four more
Just remembered the M1 carbine I'll have to see about mags for it but think I'm in decent shape
A good # of 1911 mags, & have 9 for the 1911 Gun-Blog 9
Yeah the M&P 9mm has 6 mags but I like to have 10 for each handgun
Thursday, November 06, 2008
Seen a few posts about get them while you can you know.., Hi cap mags Tactical type rifles etc. Before Banana takes office & gets a ban.
Not that I'm in need of much, I really ramped things up in 1992 when Slick Willie was elected, & have continued to add to what I have on a fairly steady basis.
But I did some checking around the web & places are out of stock on a lot of things, Aim Surplus had like 4 or 5 different AR15 lowers a couple of days ago, but today they are out of stock on everything.
The only thing I could use would be a couple of more mags for the M&P 9mm, but most everything else I have of plenty of magazines.

So fellow gun owners get ready for the fight of your lives! "The One" is more anti gun than Clinton ever thought about being, so when you are getting your free pie, send what you saved to the NRA, GOA, JPFO, or the SAF.
Lets see I predict an extremely high ammo tax,
Oh yeah you have the right to keep & bear arms, but it says nothing about ammunition, the UN called that one in July of 2006
Not only did you let the "Enlightened One" accend to the Whitehouse
You also decided that poor peoples loans should be montored by the government, & the pay day loan places may well close & lay off they say up to 5000.
Ohio you also took the moral high ground & kept that evil casino out of Ohio. Since DHL is closing & laying off 6000-8000 people which will add more bodies by the fact that 6-8 thousand people are not buying anything.
So all in all, the dog is walking with crossed legs this morning.
*not really, & no whining if you get caught in the lay offs

During this political season let's be reminded of these wise words. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people' s initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves. .... Few Members of Congress have done more to protect our Second Amendment freedoms than John Boehner. Gun owners across the nation owe Congressman Boehner a debt of gratitude for his tireless work on our behalf as House Minority Leader.
For months we have been making you aware of the threat an Obama-Biden administration would pose to our Second Amendment rights (see www.GunBanObama.com for more information). An Obama-Biden Administration bolstered by an anti-gun U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate would be an unmitigated disaster for the future of our freedom.
We cannot let this happen!
While time is running short, you still have a chance to help stop this nightmare scenario from becoming a reality.
Congressman Boehner and his team are working tirelessly to recruit grassroots volunteers to assist with Get Out The Vote efforts to make sure every pro-Second Amendment supporter makes it to the polls on Tuesday, November 4th and "Votes Freedom First"!
To succeed with this last push, however, they need YOUR HELP!
On Election Day, phone banks will be conducted to call pro-gun voters. Your help is needed to make these critical calls to ensure they get to the polls.
These Election Day phone banks will be located in Hamilton, Middletown, West Chester, and Fairfield. There will be two shifts: 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Of course, any amount of time you can give during the day will be a huge help! For more information on these voter turnout efforts please call or e-mail Ryan Day at (513) 779-8435 / rday@fojb.com).
Whatever time you can spare, even just an hour or two, will pay enormous dividends for gun owners. Please volunteer to help by contacting Ryan Day, and encourage others to do the same!

Just because they do a class with a high round count does not mean you will learn a whole lot,
You will likely get the knowledge in the class, but the skill comes with practice after the class.
To many take the class, & never practice what they learn, & there will be a lawyer riding every bullet you fire on the street.
I shot sort of average at Todd Jarretts class, but when I got home I applied what he had shown me, & I'm still working on it. There are a number of gifted Instructors that have a lot of knowledge to share, but only if you apply what they give you will it be honed into a skill.
If you just take a class, & never apply it you'll just burn a lot of ammo.

Tonight will be the 3rd night digging in the crawlspace, so that we can run water & electrical, phone line & computer cable, to the new building.
Of course someone back filled that end of the crawlspace so it is fairly tight, & I'm having to dig about 4 feet down to get to the trench, it didn't help that the first night I was about a foot to far to the left & missed the trench completely. Last night the light kept going out so for about an hour I dug in total darkness.
I really need to get it done tonight, as the contractor wants the trench filled before he starts.
Once he has the shell up, I'll wire it insulate it, & drywall it etc etc etc.
A lot of projects this month, & a lot of classes, seems I'm going in circles

Your result for The Classic Leading Man Test...
John Wayne
You, my friend, are a man's man, the original true grit, one tough talking, swaggering son of a bitch. You're not a bad guy, on the contrary, you're the ultimate good guy, but you're one tough character, rough and tumble, ready for anything. You call the shots and go your own way, and if some screwy dame is willing to accept your terms, that's just fine by you. Otherwise, you'll just hit the open trail and stay true to yourself. You stand up for what you believe and can handle any situation, usually by rushing into the thick of the action. You're not polished and you're not overly warm, but you're a straight shooter and a real stand up guy. Co-stars include Lauren Bacall and Maureen O'Hara, tough broads who can take care of themselves.http://www.helloquizzy.com/tests/the-classic-leading-man-test

WHY I AM VOTING DEMOCRAT

I'm voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

I'm voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out ofIraqI trust that the bad guys will stop what they're doing because they now think we're good people.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

I'm voting Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of Americanbabies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution to the freeloaders.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringewackos who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that open borders and government give-a-ways to foreigners is a great way to grow a nation.

I'm voting Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

I'm voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my horse.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

I'm voting Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

JR has some more on this:

If the Chief had been carrying a Glock he would have gotten shot.
And it does sound better than what DC has come up with so far
Hi Y'all,
I'm against the $85,000,000, 000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000, 000 to America in a "We Deserve It Dividend."
To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child.
So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00
My plan is to give $425,0 00 to every person 18+ as a "We Deserve It Dividend."
Of course, it would NOT be tax-free.
So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000, 000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000 .00.
What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new gradsPut away money for college -
it'll be thereSave in a bank -
create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car -
create jobsInvest in the market -
capital drives growthPay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean -
or else Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other companythat is cutting back.
And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces. If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.
If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG - liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
Here's my rationale.
We deserve it and AIG doesn't.
Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?
I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion "We Deserve It Dividend" more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.
And remember, The Family plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.
Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.
Kindest personal regards
,A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic.

Of course in setting up a plan, one needs to consider lifestyle, family & location.
For me it is only myself & Lady D, we live out in the country, close neighbor is 350 yds away. We live back a about 900 foot driveway.
We keep a 12 ga pump gun loaded with #4 Buck, we also keep a CAR-15 with 30 round mag (55 fmj) Of course there a few hidden pistols here & there.
We also have a selection of cool tactical lights like Blackhawk & Surefire, & others.
but the one I have for home defense I found at a discount store on sale for $9
V-1 Million Power Series™ Cordless/Rechargeable Spotlight .
It may not be taci cool, but it does throw a lot of light, & the cost was very affordable, & yes I will be shooting one handed if need me, but with fried cornea's I really doubt they will resist a whole lot.

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets. http://origin.barackobama.com/issues/urbanpolicy/

I didn't shoot an LDA at Blackwater, I had chosen the, the 9mm LTC Single Action, but I did put in for one of the LDA's & lucked out being able to acquire one.
Truly never been a fan of double action pistols, the first shot usually requires 12-14 lbs of pull, then you have a lot of slack to take up for the following shots.
Not so with the Para LDA trigger! It is in fact lighter than some SA's I've owned, it is as Todd Jarrett says a real sweet trigger.
The pull is very much like a Glock, so far I've only had time to dry fire it, & hope to make it to the range this Sunday.
The Para LDA fits that area of people that like 1911's, but find cocked & locked a bit scary, but they don't want a true double action*, but want a consistent trigger. This is a double action that I would carry.
(*A true double action will continue to cock & release the hammer without resetting the gun)

Compared to weapons loss rates for the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration, the ATF misplaced almost twice as many guns.

Some were pretty simple 6 inch plate rack at 7 yds*, clay birds on hangers at 8yds, golf T's at 7 yds, & splitting playing cards at 7 yds, it seemed for many of the first timers didn't quite get it & threw as much lead as fast as they could at the smaller targets, like splitting a playing card, instead of taking time to maybe make, the shot count? I guess "while there is lead in the air there is hope in the heart", I told them they shot like cops
*Newbold targets, not steel
The Patriot Day cookout went well, shooting was a bit light this year, I'm guessing down to around 2000 rounds. We did have a light turn out of shooters.
Sunday cleaned up most of the range etc & then went to gun show, nothing really caught my eye, & we got home before IKE blew through, damage has been light other than the length of time the power was out we did loose a lot of food stuffs.

"These estimates are based on calculations of the 'lost product' that is represented by premature deaths from armed violence," said Achim Wennmann of the Small Arms Survey.
"These people — had they lived — would have contributed as any other individual as productive members of society. Their deaths represent a loss that can be quantified," he told The Associated Press. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080912/ap_on_re_eu/violent_crimes
They assume they would have contributed to society, when the survey shows 70% of the homicide victims are felons. So what would have been the cost if these "victims" had continued their professional careers?
When you look at the numbers we have approx. 16,000 +/- homicides a year in America, about 11,000 are firearms related. This includes Law Enforcement, & Self Defense shootings. ( a note to put in perspective Memphis TN had 35 self defense homicides in the first quarter of 2008, that's just one city)
With a population of 300,000,000 +/- the odds of being a homicide victim are pretty low, about 1/2 of those that are felons. Since Cain slew Able we have been killing each other, & that will not end no matter how many treaties are signed or laws are passed it's the nature of man.
If laws were effective at controlling mans behavior the first 10 would have been enough.

Seven years today, & the really sad part the country is no safer today than it was that day.
Oh you can say there have been no more attacks, but our men & women overseas have a lot to do with that.
OBL said we were a paper tiger, attacks here would have given many resolve, to well "git it done", but nothing is happening here, many think we should just bring everybody home, & then we will have another 911, or a lot of little 911's everywhere.
They hate us to their cores, & they will not give up their attacks, until we remember how to really fight a war.
"War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want."- General William T. Sherman

McCain's Selection of Palin is Lipstick on a Pig
By Liz - Aug 30th, 2008 at 8:28 am EDT
Palin does not change one single thing of what the Republicans are offering which is four more years of George Bush. All that McCain did was to put lipstick on the Pig (the Bush Administration whose failed strategies have wrecked our nation). Nothing has changed except for an exciting and sexy dash of lipstick to freshen up their tired old face of more of the same.

If you are tired of seeing Made in India, or Made in China, think American!
How's that you say? Think Blackhawk, my friends.
Blackhawk began in Mike Noell's garage to make items that were ether not issued, or the issued items were not the quality that operators needed to get missions done.
Well Blackhawk has grown from that garage to a new world HQ's in Norfolk as well as facilities in Idaho, Montana, & North Carolina.
What's the secret? they are making as many products as they can here in the US of A, that's Americans making the products!
Of course the next thing is "it's too expensive", hey you can't have it both ways!
But they are not that expensive really, Let's look at pants, Blackhawk is about only $5 more than 511, & the back pockets are in the correct place for a man's wallet, not halfway down the leg. In the Blackhawk, the leg pockets feature webbing for mags, not just the right side ether. In 511 you will find a pocket.
Uncle has some word on the Blackhawk holsters: http://www.saysuncle.com/archives/2008/09/10/blackhawk/#comments
Since returning from the PARA USA-Todd Jarrett event,
I've ordered a Sherpa Level 2 for Lady D's M&P, she wanted a paddle, FBI cant, & retention, hey that's no problem with Blackhawk. She also liked the Carbon Fiber finish, & the matching mag holders, I mounted on the M-3 light carrier.
I did the same set up for the 1911 mag holders I brought back from the trip.
I also ordered The Gladius flashlight, & the Mod-U-Lok carrier
A lot of future tactical & shooting products I acquire will be from Blackhawk, check them out: http://www.blackhawk.com/
Right now I need to get back to their catalog.

It was indeed a very long drive there & back. A very busy 3 days of training, & I never wanted to appear anti social, I was just fairly whupped by the end of each day.
The trip was much like a dream, which I had last night. Quality guns, Quality gear, Quality facilities, & Quality people.
Para-USA does make fine quality handguns, & with the move to NC they will be expanding into rifles.
Wonder have they ever thought of producing Browning's other pistol?, the HP?
I'm looking forward to the arrival of the one I bought from the training class.
Quality Blawkhawk gear, they did make us feel welcome, & gave us what we needed, I've already sent an order their way.
Blackwater really does have some of the finest shooting facilities I've ever seen, although I don't get out much, but as the other bloggers coined Disneyland for Shooters.
Quality People, I love shooters, they really are the best folks in the world.
Now back to that dream....team entires in the 360 degree shoothouse

I clicked once for Driver & once for Passenger, although the part # came up the same, I thought at the time they were interchangeable. I would have no problem if I had screwed up, but I ordered correctly, it's their website that is screwed up.

Alaska is the largest state in the United States in land area at 570,380 square miles (1,477,277 km2), more than twice as large as Texas, the next largest state. It is larger than all but 18 sovereign nations. and the 6th wealthiest (per capita income). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska
Funny Obama promises "Hope & Change" & picks Washington, Joe Biden, he may be from Delaware, but he has been in DC a long time. That seems more like the same old same old

Obama states that McCain is more of the same old same old, but McCain picks a younger nearly unknown VP.........

Saturday & yesterday, really had a chance to work on what Todd Jarrett had shown me at Blackwater, & no doubt it works. It will take a while to make it happen without thinking about it. but it does work.
Lady D shot her Distinguished Marksmanship course of fire yesterday, & made it with an 89%, between surgries & recoveries, this has been a goal she has been trying to obtain for 3 years.

http://toddjarrett.com/ Wow where to start? He is a bit of a rare bird, I've seen top shooters, that simply could not or would not tell you how to go about learning what they do.
I've seen some try, & fail, I've also seen a lot with ego, & they fall out pretty quick too.
To be a good trainer you have to have the desire to teach & train! You have to have the presentation skills, & you should at least be a good shooter that fully understands the fundamentals to teach them.
But Todd has the desire & the skill to teach plus he is one of the top shootists in the country & when you combine all that, you have a formidable package.
I'm an Instructor myself, & I know what it takes to put on a class. Where does this guy get the energy? If you could bottle it you could make a mint!
Todd is hands on! & he is on the move throughout the class, he will pretty much all at the same time teach the entire class, & working with an individual, & doing a demo of what he is doing, & sending assistants to help other folks.
He grounds you in the basics, shows you how to move & shoot He shows you how to shoot movers, & he shows you how to move & shoot the movers.
While he is teaching at least with our class he was also interfacing with a film crew, & he could do it with out missing a beat.
He showed everybody how to improve, those that were newer or maybe just younger, picked up on his advice & instruction quicker.
For me sometimes when the timer went off, I went to auto pilot, & didn't shoot as well as I'd hoped, but that can come from trying new ideas, & working with unfamiliar equipment all at the same time. Although it's good to get out of your comfort zone, & open yourself to new ideas & views, otherwise you can get stale.
He kept it safe, he kept it moving, & he kept himself open to questions, & I'm sure he was more bushed than the rest of us by the end if the weekend.
One of the things besides his teaching skills was his gun handling, when I have seen even very experienced shooters handle a firearm, they always seem to handle a gun like a tool. When Todd handles his it's more like an extension of his body, it was nearly like an art, & I was in awe.
http://www.blackwaterusa.com/ It's a pretty cool place, 7000 acres, & 650 employees, it is one of the largest shooting (if not the biggest) facilities in the world.
With over 40 ranges at least one going to 1200 yd, & includes at least 3 shoot houses, & a couple of what appear to be urban areas. They also offer performance driving schools on one of 3 tracks.
From the company website: Headquartered in Moyock, North Carolina, Blackwater Worldwide is situated on 7,000 acres. The largest private training center in the United States, our corporate facility is comprised of many unique training ranges, special tactical training areas, and other training support activity centers. We also have extensive technology design and manufacturing capabilities making our Moyock Headquarters a one of a kind center for problem solving excellence.
