Misunderstanding
The Second Amendment
- In the 1700's "Well Regulated" meant to do regularly, in ths aspect of the Militia: trained and equipped. The Militia and the NG not the same., Under the United States Code of Law Sec. 311 defines the militia as the people in general. Members of the NG are paid, and that makes them a professional army, something the Founders abhorred , and the militia are unpaid, and serve in the common defense of state and country.
Good advice
About getting your lady to shoot
I'd also advise find a good Instructor to teach them, after all you are just the "idiot" that lives with them, it's a relationship thing.

So if he had stolen a car
then mowed down five students in the parking lot, there wouldn't be any discussion about the matter?
Common sense would see the problem is much larger than guns, things like lack of parenting, lack of discipline, lack of respect, lack of basic manners, etc etc...........
But you can't fix those by passing more laws ether

Bad buy
Readers may remember back in December I ask about removing some what I thought was some rather tough cosmoline from an M1 Garand, well it turned out after a lot of cleaning to be a broken shell casing.
The gunsmith said it was corroded in place, and under the rear hand guard the barrel was badly pitted, plus what appeared to be dark rifling turned out to be pretty heavy corrosion, in checking out the rest of the parts he wasn't sure a new barrel would produce a shoot-able gun as he had some doubts about the operating rod.
His suggestion was sell the usable parts, rather than sink more money in the project
When I made the purchase, I picked what I thought was the best of 3 the dealer had, but life was a bit busy, and it got stuffed in the safe for 2 years before I attempted to shoot it, and when I did it was a bit late to go back to the dealer with it
lesson learned

Well I have to agree
with number 3
“Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property... Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.”
― Thomas Paine
If guns weren't dangerous I'd have no use for them

Guns do that
when you put your finger on the trigger, then flinch when they go off
Once a long time ago I was wiping down a loaded single action, and had put it on half cock so I could wipe the cylinder, when I was done for some really dumb reason I pulled the trigger, imagine my surprise. People do dumb things then try to blame the equipment, the only equipment failure that day was my brain, and the only damage done was a small 22 caliber hole in a door frame. But that day some 20 years ago I learned if you are doing something with a firearm, that does not involve shooting, unload it first.

Funny, when I read
The FBI report on gangs:
I read that they commit up to 48% of violent crimes, and in some areas up to 90%
Of course if you look at only part of the data gangs can look like choir boys and it is all about the NRA

Getting Gun Rights
Right!
Law abiding citizens should be allowed to legally carry arms any place that criminals are already carrying them.

To understand gun control advocates
I would agree disconnect the logical part of your brain, and all those that sprout drivel about gun control would likely make sense

When gun control fails
Pass more gun control
Chicago wants Illinois to pass statewide registration, at $65 per gun
Hopefully the state will remain smarter than the city of Chicago

Interesting
How they make up facts as they go
H/T to Say Uncle
I do not have a link, but if one looks it could be found, Chicago Police conducted a study on homicides, and found 80% of those who commit it are already felons, and 70% of the victims were felons.

Gun industry on the ropes
According to Josh Horwitz
I'm pretty Josh does not get out much or even understands basic business practice, he seems to think the more guns that are being made and even with more guns being imported that they are sitting on dealer shelves gathering dust. Nor has he been to a weekend gun show on the second day to see the empty spaces on the tables, no one in their right mind rents 3 tables, and only fills one and a half tables to lay out their wares.
Attended the Gun Show in Sharonville yesterday, and by 11 am when we left it was getting a bit hard to move, and the dealers I talked to said Saturday had been really good and a lot were surprised by the crowd being that there was some big football game going on, and I saw a pretty good number of people filling out 4473's just in the couple hours I was there, but then they may have been NRA shills pertending to buy guns, so people would just think sales are up.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
And Sugar?
The inclusion of sugar with alcohol, tobacco and firearms sounds impossible and implausible, but a team of researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, thinks America's favorite sweetener should be considered a controlled substance.
I can just see Waco type raids at Dairy Queen

Just a quick reminder
The Rangemaster course is about half full for May
Combative Pistol, Two-Day
This is an intensive weekend course that covers all of the essential skills involved in fighting with a handgun. There is an all day session Saturday and Sunday, plus an evening session on Saturday.
Topics covered in this course will include:
• Rapid presentation from concealed carry
• Effective gunhandling techniques, designed to work under stress
• Rapid reloading techniques
• Movement skills, including effectively engaging targets on the move
• Disability drills, including drawing and reloading with one hand
• Precision shooting at mid-ranges
• Effective scanning techniques, locating additional threats
• Low light firing techniques, both with/without a flashlight
• Proper defensive mindset and more.
Expect to fire about 800-1000 rounds of ammunition.
You will need a good handgun, holster, belt, and magazine pouch, at least three magazines, a ball cap and concealment garment (vest, jacket, windbreaker, etc), eye and ear protection, and rain gear (we train rain or shine). Soft drinks and snacks provided, lunch provided on Sunday.

Your primary instructor will be Tom Givens, of Rangemaster. Tom’s credentials can be viewed under Staff Qualifications. He will be assisted by other Rangemaster staff.
Tuition is $400.00. May 19th-20 2011 Contact Mad Duck Training 937-787-4414 training@madduckttc.net Cash or Check
A deposit of $100.00 will hold a space, balance due 15 days before class.
