Kroger has paid Elliott his salary while he has been on leave since the shooting and provided counseling services to him. He said Kroger officials also were open to options that included a continuation of Elliott's employment, but Elliott decided to resign before negotiations reached any details. he suggested companies could allow employees to be armed at work if they are competent, licensed and trained in the weapon's use. "I hope it will be handled on a case-by-case basis," he said.
