Zealots like Sugerman like to point out the potential for "armed citizens" making a tragic mistake, yet ignore when "armed professionals" do the same thing. Recently police officers in an eastern city (I think it was Boston) killed a fellow officer when that officer had to pull his gun and fire when he felt threatened during a response to a "scuffle" outside of a bar. The other officers just reacted to the sound of gunfire and the sight of someone holding a gun and failed to identify that the individual was not a "bad guy".
You may also notice the idiotic reporting... "He pulled out his gun and aimed at a man with a weapon who was standing over a younger man... Loughner had been knocked to the ground and was being detained by an unarmed person, who was holding Loughner’s weapon."
Man with a weapon... unarmed person holding a weapon...
