According to this article gun ownership is declining percentage wise by household. Which may be true.
2014: 22% of Americans own a firearm, Rounds out to 70 million?
vs a high of
1985: 31% of Americans own a firearm, Rounds out to 70 million?
But in doing a little looking
1980 Population was 228,542.000, Number of households was 79 Million
2010 Population was 308,745,000, Number of households was 123 Million (2014) US Census Bureau.
I'm not a statistician, maybe I'm missing something, so draw your own conclusions.
