The Bill of Rights have always been fundamental, it's not a pick and chose list.
The ruling does not allow felons, or the mentally ill to have guns, and the ruling did not elevate gun ownership, it confirmed it.

What's coming in Chicago?
Chicago gun owners could be required to register their weapons, purchase liability insurance and undergo criminal background checks and periodic firearms training, now that the U.S. Supreme Court has shot down the city's strictest-in-the-nation handgun ban.
Funny if this were required of felons, it would violate their constitutional rights, but requiring it of law-abiding citizens is not?

McDonald v. City of Chicago
(08-1521) Argued: Mar. 2, 2010
Issue: Whether the Second Amendment is incorporated into the Due Process Clause or the Privileges or Immunities Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment so as to be applicable to the States, thereby invalidating ordinances prohibiting possession of handguns in the home.
Court finds in favor of : McDonald
The opinion concludes that the 14th Amendment does incorporate the Second Amendment right recognized in Heller to keep and bear arms in self defense
5-4
Alito, in the part of the opinion joined by three Justices, concludes that the 2d Amendment is incorporated through the Due Process Clause.
Thomas thinks the Amendment is incorporated, but not under Due Process. He appears to base incorporation on Privileges or Immunities.
Full opinion here
The opinion leaves the fate of the Chicago gun ordinance in the hands of the 7th Circuit on remand.

Hearings on Kagan
Enough has emerged from Kagan's papers to make the National Rifle Association (NRA) very nervous. As a clerk for Marshall, Kagan wrote that she was "not sympathetic" to a constitutional challenge of Washington D.C.'s gun-control law, a law that the court overturned in 2008 in the D.C. v. Heller decision. In her confirmation hearing to be Solicitor General, Kagan reversed herself, saying she would uphold D.C. v. Heller, calling the decision "settled law." Still, Senators are likely to take D.C. v. Heller a step further and ask her about McDonald v. City of Chicago, a case the Supreme Court is likely to hand down on Monday that is expected to overturn Chicago's ban on handguns.
Kagan will also face questions about a paper she wrote in the Clinton Administration that paved the way for an executive order banning dozens of semiautomatic weapons, though the White House argues that she was simply acting as counsel and giving advice, not creating policy. Another two memos found in Kagan's papers related to the Volunteer Protection Act, which, when it passed, shielded some nonprofits' volunteer workers from tort liability in certain cases. In those memos, the Clinton Administration worried that "bad guy orgs" such as the NRA and the Ku Klux Klan might also benefit from the law, though it's unclear if these were Kagan's words or an aide's as the memo is unsigned.

Screamers is being shown to world leaders — most recently Canada’s Parliament — as part of an apparent effort to advance support for a world prohibition on private gun ownership. It’s worth noting too that the most repressive United Nations members have long wanted to ban private firearm possession so they can more safely impose totalitarian control and commit future genocides if desired.

"Know your Target & What is Beyond"
Bell, pursued Hall into the street and fired four shots as Hall fled in his SUV.
After hitting a tree, Hall bailed out of the vehicle and twice turned in Bell's direction and appeared to point what turned out to be a fake handgun he used in the robbery at him.
Price said Bell fired two more shots, one of which went through a wall of Jackson's home about a block away, fatally wounding her.
If you can't make the shot, don't take it, no matter how this case goes, there is no happy ending.

Efforts to curb special interests in elections fizzle
June 21, 2010 Byline: Fredreka Schouten USA TODAY
WASHINGTON - A high-profile effort by President Obama and top Democrats to clamp down on special interest spending in elections has faltered, nearly six months after a Supreme Court ruling cleared the way for unlimited corporate and union spending on independent campaign ads.
Action on a bill in Congress that aims to shine more light on such spending stalled after top House Democrats agreed to exempt the powerful National Rifle Association and other large non-profits from new disclosure rules.
"All restriction on political speech is repugnant," Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the gun owners' group, told USA TODAY.
"Am I happy that the NRA's tongue is not cut for the 2010 ... elections? Absolutely," he said. "Do we still think this bill is unconstitutional? Absolutely."

In Japan:
A disgruntled worker slammed his car into employees at a Mazda factory Tuesday, killing one and injuring 10, stunning Japan just two years after an autoworker went on a deadly rampage in central Tokyo
The rampage has revived memories of a stabbing spree in Tokyo's jam-packed electronics shopping district two years ago, also by an angry autoworker, that killed seven people when he slammed a truck into a crowd and then stabbed onlookers.
So the question, do you lay blame on the driver, or on the car?

Police said Beemer thought she was being taken to jail.
She pulled out her police-issued handgun and fired a single shot in the floorboard near the intersection of Gaston Avenue and Abrams Road, police said.
An officer can be heard on the dashcam footage yelling, "Kelly, drop the gun! Drop the gun! Drop it! Drop it!"
Police Chief David Brown said he is extremely disappointed by her actions, calling them "reckless" and "unacceptable."

Well for this part of Ohio, it has ether been more hot, and sticky, or wet than usual.
The Hot and sticky is more like July, and the wet more like May, it will be interesting to see what July brings.
I could really use several days of dry, so we could finish extending the berm, it's near impossible to make any progress with heavy equipment, when its mushy
Ah it's Ohio, if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes it will change....................
At least we are not getting pounded like some areas

Trial focuses on training
Stein asked Garcia if it was inconsistent with training for an officer to fire a fatal bullet into the back of an unarmed man.
"That would be inconsistent with our training," Garcia said.
So heres the question, if you defend yourself, and you go to trial, will your training, or lack there of come into question? Will you be able to explain what you did, and why you did what you did in those split seconds?

Consider who the authors are
5 myths of Gun Control?
1. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
Since 33% of the Homicides are not firearms related, we seem pretty proficient at killing each other, and since it is estimated that around 10-11% of gun homicides are legal intervention, of the remaining 90% if they didn't have a gun, would they have used a club or something else?
2. Gun laws affect only law-abiding citizens.
Well laws in general only affect law abiding persons, abiding by the law is a choice, weather its choosing to exceed the speed limit, DUI, or acquiring a gun for illegal purposes.
3. When more households have guns for self-defense, crime goes down.
So with an estimated 14,000,000 guns sold last year, why did the FBI UCR show a 5.5% decrease in crime? (one of the few places showing increases was Chicago?, although they are not part of the UCR)
4. In high-crime urban neighborhoods, guns are as easy to get as fast food.
From the Wright Rossi research, if criminals want guns they can get them, may not be Burger King, but they can get them
5. Repealing Chicago's handgun ban will dramatically increase gun crimes.
So in all the cities and states that do not have gun bans and even have shall issue CCW, why are we not seeing dramatic increases in gun crime? Is Chicago all that different from the rest of the country?
Cook & Ludwig have long been anti gun, and even when thier own research indicated that there were likely twice as many "defensive gun uses" than the Gary Kleck study of 2.5 million a year, they did a research paper to discredit their own study, since they didn't like the result. Please do not to confuse them with facts.

Man attempts to cut off arm
Dr. Scott Ellner, Metz's attending surgeon, said Metz used his own tools to cut through his arm on Tuesday, after he smelled dead tissue. "He actually attempted to amputate his arm. He nearly did it, but not completely,"
Doctors gave the account of Metz's harrowing experience at a news conference Thursday. They said the attempted self-amputation probably saved his life, preventing the infection in his gangrenous arm from spreading to the rest of his body.

Data released by the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) reported 1,016,876 checks in May 2010, ranking the month the second highest May for most NICS checks.
This figure, while being a .6 percent decrease from the 1,023,102 checks conducted in May 2009, is an increase of 14.7 percent over checks in May 2008.

If you are jumped by three gang members intent on cutting your throat, will you panic and "lose it" ... or will you fight through the pain and fear to survive against overwhelming odds?
The Bulletproof Mind: Tactical Mindset for Armed Citizens can prepare you and your family to be strong in any situation. You will learn how to be the sheepdog instead of the sheep.

I've said it before
If you have small children, you have to secure your weapons, and most 2 yr olds do not understand the danger, since they had recently bought the guns for self defense, I highly doubt that they had taken any training, even a basic NRA course would have reminded them about child safety.
Just a tragedy

The reason 12 died
The cops do not carry guns
"Unarmed security means run like hell, when the guy with the gun shows up" -Dave G
It is a bit amazing in a country with 60 million people, that fewer than 7000 cops carry guns, while it is different here, the attitude is about the same.

She is right
A "No Guns" Sign, is pretty much the same as a "No Negros" sign
Discrimination is discrimination

A word about SureFire
left my E2E Executive Elite, in the pocket of my Tru-Spec pants, and it went through the washer, and the dryer, and works just fine, I was kinda of surprised that the bouncing around in the dryer, didn't kill the bulb.
That's just dumb
Taurus .380 wheel gun
.380 has and will likely continue to be nearly as rare as hen's teeth. a 9mm would make a lot more sense

That's a new one:
Multiaction rifles
Without the gunman the rifle is not going to do anything what so ever

Maybe we need to talk slower, and use smaller words
I have a few words, but stupid jumps to the forefront

Outstanding customer service!!
I'm a fan of paddle holsters, and therefore it makes sense to have a paddle magazine pouch, and while nearly all of the holster makers offer some type of paddle holster, very few offer a magazine pouch with a paddle.
Last year at the NRA meeting in Phoenix, I was shown such a creature, the B831, and it works with ether single stack, or double stack mags.
A couple of weeks ago finishing up a class, I found that one of the screws had fallen out, I contacted customer service, to find out how I could order the missing parts. Tina Parker at G&G customer service sent me an email saying if I gave her the address she would have the parts sent out, unlike one of the other holster companies did when one of there screws went south a week after I had purchased the holster.
Of course that's the kind of customer service we like, since emailing G&G, I have ordered 2 more mag pouches, one in Chestnut to match my new Stoner Paddle, and an extra one in black, the newer ones have an improved paddle design, and the parts they promised arrived today.
I'm a happy customer.

This is a hammer:
They are not interchangeable (Caution Graphic)
While you can hit things with both, one should never use a cartridge for a hammer
That is all

Drug Lords on gun control:
“He suggested that the first move would be to dry up the supply of bullets because if there were no bullets then the guns would be useless,”
So the new heroin could be ammunition?

In the words of Mark Twain:
Lies, dammed Lies, and statistics
While the study does suggest a correlation between gun ownership and the rate of death from gunfire, the numbers do not correlate exactly
If one were to do enough research, and "cherry pick" the data, I'm sure that certain models of cars could be tied to DUI's, therefore if we were to ban certain model cars, or certain colors of cars we could eliminate drunk driving

UK shooting rampage
Must be an internet hoax, guns are banned in Merry ole England
Even the BBC reports it
Appears 4 dead, 10 or so wounded, the firearm is reported to be a licensed and registered shotgun
Update: At least five people have been killed and 25 injured after a gunman opened fire in west Cumbria.
Update: 1:50 PM 12 Dead and 25 wounded
So the handgun banned worked, no one was shot with a handgun

Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937
In 1937, hunters successfully lobbied Congress to pass the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act, which placed an 11% tax on all hunting equipment. This self-imposed tax now generates over $700 million each year and is used exclusively to establish, restore and protect wildlife habitats
While I have always supported this tax, it would be a benefit, if they do allow some of it to be spent to develop ranges for those of us who don't hunt, but do shoot

Know how to effectively respond to an unexpected knife attack.
"Many officers have a 'Gun Mentality' and may not take an edged weapon as a serious threat because of the firearms they carry," says Nepomuceno. "When the suspect has a knife you should avoid going to the ground at all costs." On the ground the suspect could deliver numerous stabs into your side and cause you to bleed to death.

Baltimore, wants to be like Chicago
So Bernard tell me how, banning guns will keep them out of the hands of felons and drug dealers? It's already against the law for 15 and 17 year olds to obtain a gun. Have any of the legal permit holders gone on shooting sprees? Why not just ban felons and drug dealers, that might go a long way in cleaning up Baltimore.

Liar Liar, pants on fire
The rifles were never banned, nor were the magazines holding more than 10 rounds (yes new production, but there were plenty of surplus magazines floating around if you were willing to pay the price, or steal them), certain features like flash hiders, and bayonet lugs went away, but a "post ban" Ar or AK is just as effective as a pre or post-post(?) ban rifle.
Chief, you want rifles? You can get them free from the Feds, or you can get them here: http://www.slr15.com/legrants.html, or you could allow your officers to carry their own rifles.
There are worriers, and doers, why don't you quit whining, and do something?
