Quite a coincidence!

Last night I was reading the Encyclopedia of Militaria and it listed the date of the invention of the machine gun as 1718. I thought "1718? That can't be right." and I resolved to look it up this morning. But you beat me to it.

IIRC, the Puckle Gun came in round and triangular--the later for use on non-Christians.

Saw on eat a rendezvous once, in Bridhger, WY. Was amazed it was sitting out for all to see and touch, although not to shoot...
