Washington State Police Shooting:

The dance has begun (SIH has a discussion going on article)

Better off without a gun (direct link to article)

I do not want to play Monday morning quarterback, but those officers were ambushed, and from all the news reports, all were on their laptops, doing reports, so it appears they were in condition "White" (Totally unaware of their surroundings), please do not infer that I blame the officers at all.
They were in a familiar area, and usually there is some safety in numbers, they likely felt secure, after all most of the time (99.9999%) when multiple officers are shot is in situations like going in on warrants, not sitting drinking coffee, with their buddies.

The attacker had a plan, and implemented it, action is always faster than reaction, he didn't just happen to shoot those officers, he was hunting them, and he already knew they had vests, and likely went for head shots. (perhaps since Mann suggests a gun will not protect you, he should also suggest that officers do not need body armour as that didn't protect them ether). The attack came fast, the suspect did not tip his hand, and two were hit fairly quick, but even then the other 2 had time to react, of course you cannot out draw a drawn gun, but it does appear one of the four had time to get hits on the attacker.

Look at the real picture, why was the guy out on the street? What the hell is wrong with the court system that he was out on bail? How many Federal & State laws did this guy break just to have a gun in his possession?

Not a fan of Huckabee, but he is not to blame in this ether, Clemmons had screwed up his parole in 2001, ( which made the clemency mote) and that use to mean you serve out your sentence, but he didn't. Partly do to the fact the bleeding heart libs cry foul if the jail is crowded.

So instead of blaming Huckabee for commuting the sentence in May of 2000, we might want to focus on how the system has handled this idiot since then.
It's the catch & release system that's broken, not the gun laws, and that broken system is what killed those officers.
