When reading this story I was wondering about the wisdom of trying to shoot the snake. I guess my biggest hesitation would be leaving the kids to get the gun out of the safe (and the ammo out of another) and loading a mag.I know that standing there watching the kids wasn't helping, but I'm not sure I would want to leave them.
