You are doing it wrong
My left hand was locked on my right wrist, and I stood sideways with my feet slightly apart. I squeezed one eye shut, focused the other on a target about 40 feet away and braced myself for the kickback. I pulled the trigger, and the muzzle of my Sig Sauer 9mm flashed and jerked upward.

All in all a decent class, after 2 days on the range and in the shoot house, we moved to the classroom. Both instructors had strong opinions concerning todays production guns, both favor the Wilson Combat CQB.
The major points they made was the 1911 does need to maintained (Vickers "If you are going to treat your gun like your lawnmower get a Glock")
Use quality magazines and replace your recoil springs often, and keep them well lubed. Hackathorn recommended Mobil 1.

1911 Class day 2, Shot an Uzi
I think I had pretty good trigger control, getting 3 bursts out of 10 rounds, and I prevailed in the Dosier Drill, beating the other person with the Uzi.
Ken Hackathorn did a good job with the shoot house, and among the drills Larry Vickers ran some good malfunction drills on the flat range.
Round table tonight there were several pretty collectable hand guns, and discussion of the history of JMB's top inventions
The range was so busy I didn't get phots, and when Iwas going to take them of some of the rare 1911's found I had left the memory card at home

GRPC in Chicago, yes they chose it as it does not allow its citizens the right to arms.
I did have a conflict in my own schedule, but I'm also not going to attend an event that I have to deprive myself of my rights, or contribute money to a place that wants to deprive me of my rights. It was not the event itself, as with the NRA in Charlotte NC the venue was questioned, but at least in traveling to the event, in the motel etc I could still have the right and means of defense, but traveling into a state and a city that forbid it was my issue.
