Wouldn't it be easier for the Cartels to buy straight from say China or N Korea full auto AK's than come up here & pay retail prices for Semi Auto AK's that are not easy to convert to full auto?, then try to smuggle them across the boarder?

It was kind of like the early 90's story of how the Columbia drug lords would buy AR15's here in the US for $750-$1400 each & smuggle them back to Columbia, while at the time M16 Genuine GI full auto, or Burst Fire could be bought in South America for around $100-$300 ea.
Seems after fall of Saigon, the new government didn't have a lot of use for American made firearms, & dumped them on the black market for cash, seem we had given the S. Vietnamese army over 50,000 M16's

Spoke with a police officer last night, that I've known since he was a boy.
We have shot together, we have discussed training at length, & he has been very self motivated,
A few nights ago, he was in a confrontation, The BG was armed, & as he put it about 2 seconds from getting two the chest & one to the head.
Tachphysca had set in, everything was moving real slow, as he said it seemed like 7 minutes, & it was likely 7 seconds.
But as he put it his thousands of rounds, & hours of training paid off, at the moment he was going to put the guy down, another officer came around the corner behind the BG, He said he has trained enough he does not get tunnel vision, He spotted the other officer, lower his gun & moved off the line of fire, his fellow officer tased the BG and pretty much ended the problem right there.
He said it was so close, nearly to close to call, but he as he put it those endless hours at the range paid off.
He & the other officer went home & the BG got lodging at the jail.
It's a shame more officers won't train like he does.
As to validation, whenever, I have the chance to talk to gunfight survivors, we find what we are teaching is really what is happening in the fight.

Guns in the Workplace

Why not? Why can an employer ban a gun from the workplace? What's the point?
I mean if I have no intent to do harm, what is the problem?
Now if I did intend to do harm, how is the employers rule going to stop it from happening?
Suppose an employer banned the Bible from the property? Would that give him the right to fire an employee?

Remember throughout history more wars have been started over religion, guns at times were the means, but it was over religion.

So the bible is a book, which is property, & a firearm is property, and an employer can ban ether when you are on his property.
So how many of my rights as a citizen have to be surrendered to be employed, & be a subject?
I would guess the 1st, the 2nd, & the 4th for starters

Guns in School

Should every adult that works at a school be armed?
NO!
But every adult that works at a school, who has taken the training required by their state of residence, for a CCW licence, passed the background check, & been issued such license should.

Weather it's day care elementary middle or high school, members of the staff, the faculty, & visiting parents who have a Concealed Carry License should be allowed to carry into the schools
Colleges could include allowing licensed students to carry.

We need zero responders!
First Responders have to be called, & they have to get there, once there they have to find the shooter, how long will that take? In a perfect world 3-5 minutes, how many people can be shot in 3-5 minutes?
Zero Responders are the ones right there at the scene, as it were: the intended victims.

Is it perfect? no it's not, but what we have is far from perfect, & writing regulations & putting up signs may "feel" good but they do dam little.

Of all the school shootings two were stopped because there were arms at hand, the rest stopped when the shooter got tired of killing.

There was a time that schools had rifle teams, guys had their hunting guns in their cars in the school parking lots, while there may have been some incidents we didn't have "School Shootings" till they passed a law & put up signs.

California Population 36 million in 2006 2485 homicides (1822 with firearms) gets a "A-" rating from the Brady's
Ohio Population 11.5 million in 2006 487 homicides (334 firearms related) gets a "D-" rating from the Brady's
Ok they have 3 times as many people but 5 times as many homicides?
So far for 2007 Los Angeles has had 679 homicides (537 gun related) Population 1 million, so 1/10th the population but they have surpassed last year numbers for a poulation 10 times as large?

I think when picking states to visit, I'll go with the ones the Brady's have awarded D's & F's, they sound so much safer

large college that had some Exchange students in the
class. One day while the class was in the lab, the
professor noticed one young man (exchange student)

The professor asked the young man what was the
matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged
in his back. He had been shot while fighting
communists in his native country who were trying to
overthrow his country's government and install a new
communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor
and asked a strange question. He asked, "Do you know
how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for
the punch line. The young man said this was no joke.
"You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in
the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs
find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free

put a fence down one side of the place where they
are used to coming. When they get used to the fence,

to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate

caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn.
They are so used to it that they have forgotten how
to forage in the woods for themselves, so they
accept their captivity.

exactly what he sees happening to America . The
government keeps pushing us toward
Communism/socialism and keeps spreading the free
corn out in the form of programs such as
supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income,
tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to
plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.
While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a
little at a time.

One should always remember "There is no such thing
as a free lunch!" Also, "You can never hire someone
to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do
it yourself.

If you see that all of this wonderful government
"help" is a problem confronting the future of
democracy in America and if you think the free ride

1. Banning guns works, which is why New York, DC, & Chicago cops need guns.

2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control.

3. Statistics showing high murder rates justify gun control but statistics showing increasing murder rates after gun control are "just statistics."

4. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban, both of which went into effect in 1994 are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates, which have been declining since 1991.

5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a lunatic is paranoid.

6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals.

7. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot with a .357 Magnum will get angry and kill you.

8. A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking gun and a dead rapist at her feet.

9. When confronted by violent criminals, you should "put up no defense -- give them what they want, or run" (Handgun Control Inc. Chairman Pete Shields, Guns Don't Die - People Do, 1981, p.125).

12. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917.

13. The National Guard, federally funded, with bases on federal land, using federally-owned weapons, vehicles, buildings and uniforms, punishing trespassers under federal law, is a "state" militia.

14. These phrases: "right of the people peaceably to assemble," "right of the people to be secure in their homes," "enumerations herein of certain rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people," and "The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states respectively, and to the people" all refer to individuals, but "the right of the people to keep and bear arm" refers to the state.

15. "The Constitution is strong and will never change." But we should ban and seize all guns thereby violating the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments to that Constitution.

16. Rifles and handguns aren't necessary to national defense! Of course, the army has hundreds of thousands of them.

17. Private citizens shouldn't have handguns, because they aren't "military weapons", but private citizens shouldn't have "assault rifles", because they are military weapons.

18. In spite of waiting periods, background checks, finger printing, government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is responsible for recent school shootings. In the 1940's, 1950's and1960's, anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations, variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings.

19. The NRA's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign about kids handling guns is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign is responsible social activity.

20. Guns are so complex that special training is necessary to use them properly, and so simple to use that they make murder easy.

21. A handgun, with up to 4 controls, is far too complex for the typical adult to learn to use, as opposed to an automobile that only has 20.

22. Women are just as intelligent and capable as men but a woman with a gun is "an accident waiting to happen" and gun makers' advertisements aimed at women are "preying on their fears."

23. Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers but revert to normal when the weapon is removed.

24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun shows.

25. A majority of the population supports gun control, just like a majority of the population supported owning slaves.

26. Any self-loading small arm can legitimately be considered to be a "weapon of mass destruction" or an "assault weapon."

27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which most people will abide by because they can be trusted.

28. The right of Internet pornographers to exist cannot be questioned because it is constitutionally protected by the Bill of Rights, but the use of handguns for self defense is not really protected by the Bill of Rights.

29. Free speech entitles one to own newspapers, transmitters, computers, and typewriters, but self-defense only justifies bare hands.

30. The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of the Constitution, and the NRA is bad, because it defends other parts of the Constitution.

31. Charlton Heston, a movie actor as president of the NRA is a cheap lunatic who should be ignored, but Michael Douglas, a movie actor as a representative of Handgun Control, Inc. is an ambassador for peace who is entitled to an audience at the UN arms control summit.

32. Police operate with backup within groups, which is why they need larger capacity pistol magazines than do "civilians" who must face criminals alone and therefore need less ammunition.

33. We should ban "Saturday Night Specials" and other inexpensive guns because it's not fair that poor people have access to guns too.

34. Police officers have some special Jedi-like mastery over hand guns that private citizens can never hope to obtain.

35. Private citizens don't need a gun for self-protection because the police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the police are not responsible for their protection.

36. Citizens don't need to carry a gun for personal protection but police chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators who work in a building filled with cops, need a gun.

37. "Assault weapons" have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of people. The police need assault weapons. You do not.

38. When Microsoft pressures its distributors to give Microsoft preferential promotion, that's bad; but when the Federal government pressures cities to buy guns only from Smith & Wesson, that's good.

39. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their duty weapon.

40. Handgun Control, Inc. says they want to "keep guns out of the wrong hands." Guess what? You have the wrong hands.

Further into AP Article: Coon had mental health problems, spent time in two juvenile facilities and threatened to commit suicide while in a mental health facility, according to juvenile court records obtained by The Plain Dealer newspaper.

When he was 12, Coon was charged in juvenile court with domestic violence. His mother, Lori, had called police and told them her son slapped her and called her a vulgar name. She had been trying to intervene in a fight between Coon and his twin sister, The Plain Dealer reported.

He was also suspended from school last year for attempting to hurt a student, the newspaper said.

"He used to cuss all the teachers out," said Henderson, 14.

"He's crazy. He threatened to blow up our school. He threatened to stab everybody," said Doneisha LeVert, 14. "We didn't think nothing of it."


As Lt Col Dave Grossman says "Denial will kill you twice", here you have a situation with a history, The person has a record of violence, but everyone decided to overlook the record & the threats with the idea he didn't really mean it & the classic "It could never happen here".
Next we will hear "Gee he was only 14, he was a troubled but good kid trying to turn his life around"

GRPC

Attended the 22nd Annual Gun Rights Policy Conference this past weekend.

With the SAF founder Alan Gottlieb, & his staff from SAF & CCRKBA,
were a number of guest speakers
John Lott, David Kopel, Don Kates,David Hardy,& the Lawyers in the DC case Levy & Gura,
Speakers from the NRA, NSSF, NMLRA, and others
Larry Pratt from GOA, Wayne LaPierre was suppose to be there but illness halted his appearance.

Ron Paul also made an appearance.

A great deal of Information was given out. Several books etc, a lot of material to work with.

The event was free to those that signed up, & not to be picky about free, but I really think it would have been better with fewer speakers.
We were can I say given a lot of appetizers but in some areas the "Meat" would have been much better, if the speaker could of had the time to get a little deeper into the subject.

Next year it will be held in Phoenix AZ, last weekend of Sept.

Campus Carry

Whereas is seems the "Only Ones" are against allowing adults to carry on the nations campuses.
The Director of Security at the University of Cincinnati put out the question if there was a shooting & they arrived on the scene how would they know which was the good guy & which was the bad guy?

Here is a clue Ferra: The good guys are not likely to point their gun at you!

The other excuse, the CCW'er might hit other students trying to hit the bad guy. Come'on now most CCw'ers practice & train more than your local police, yes it could happen, but really not likely, & even if did, I'd rather hear the good guy winged two classmates but stopped the killing, rather than hear 20 students were helplessly gunned down by a mad man.

But you can "feel" safer, shootings on campuses have only happened at 4 of America's 4700 colleges. Of course that does not include all the crime that happens in such prime hunting areas. where the BG's know the victims are unarmed.
Global Warming

Looking over my electric bill, I see it about the same every month winter or summer.
In the Summer we run some ac, & in Winter the blower on the furnace.
Now everything is run on electrical, the stove the dryer water pump the water heater. The furnace is propane, so if it warms enough that I could use the ac or no ac year round & not have to use the furnace, I could save 1200-1500 gal of Propane.
Which in turn would really save me some money, which could go for better things like ammo.
So although the earth is warming, & even if we put out every man made cooking fire etc, it would not slow the pace of earth's warming, we could reach a point where we are nearly neutral in the balance of things.
Yes the earth has been warming for 50,000 years, it use to be covered with ice!
