The point of needing more rounds per magazine is so that, in a very stressful/dynamic situation, you don't have to stop and manipulate your weapon. Even experienced shooters are likely to make a mistake while reloading under stress. Libs say "reloading will give someone time to stop the bad guy." But for a regular citizen a fumbled reload means the bad guy is probably going to kill you.
