Any Opinions Yet?

Not what you would call a computer guy, but have lived with Vista for a year and a half. I liked XP but when I bought a new PC all I could get was Vista, and the same with the laptop in December, it is a system that bogs down, and can become very slow, and on mine at least seems to lose files or misplace them, what's with that?
So is 7 a good idea?

    I still have XP, but my 78-yr old mom needed a new computer (she was running Win 95 when her machine finally choked) and had to I get her one with Vista.
    I hate it, Win7 HAS to be an improvement.
